On a trip to Venice, Dale saw and loved the joyful and playful nature of the putti in Italy. Working with master glass sculptor Pino Signoretto, he created his Putti series in 1989.

Developed in collaboration with master glassblower Pino Signoretto, ’s “Putti” are named for the Italian word for “cherub.” However, this body of work quickly evolved to include other delicate, intricately detailed Baroque figures, such as octopi, birds, dragons, and even—as pictured here—phoenixes.
