THE SPIRITS OF MARITIME CROSSING 2026 | Bangkok Art Biennale Foundation
Official Collateral Event of the 61. Art Biennalebkkartbiennale

Through layered narratives of faith, race, migration and neo-colonial realities, the exhibition reflects on a world in flux, offering moments of quiet resistance and poetic resilience.

“I am deeply honoured that The Spirits of Maritime Crossing 2026 returns to Venice as one of the Collateral Events of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia" explains the Curator, Prof. Dr. Apinan Poshyananda.

"In this edition, 20 artists from Southeast Asia, Serbia, and Ireland examine cultural flows through migration, diaspora, and dislocation as a result of colonization, war, and environmental detriment.
The hum in minor keys of the voiceless from distant places are brought to Venice.
Shifting a slower gear with meditative deep breaths, viewers experience through film, performance, sound, painting, and installation multiple interpretations of spirits of maritime crossing.”

Visit the project until August 2!

Venice Art Factory, in collaboration with Contemporis ETS, is pleased to present "Corpo Unico", a solo exhibition by Alessandro
Rudello curated by Vincenzo Alessandria, open to the public from 19 June to 10 July 2026.

The exhibition brings together a body of works on paper and canvas in which the body becomes Rudello’s primary field of inquiry. Figures in the process of dissolving or having just emerged from a shapeless womb populate the surfaces, aware that their presence is inseparable from their absence.

SPUMA - Space for the Arts, with its commitment to hosting radical and uncompromising artistic practices, provides the perfect setting for these works: spaces that do not overwhelm but emphasise, allowing the painted body the breathing space it needs.

Punj•AB – A Sublime Terrain. Pakistan National Pavilion at the 61. Venice Art Biennale | Faiza Butt

Suspended like paintings, these tapestries transform traditional floor-based weaving practices into immersive visual fiel.
Combining dhurrie weaving, ikat, jacquard, and hand-spun cotton, the works are unified through symbolic colour, architectural motifs, and intricate compositions that map the rise and fall of civilisations.

Alongside the tapestries, the Pakistan Pavilion brings together paintings, sculptures, and video, creating a multi-sensory environment that moves between historical reflection and contemporary life.

Balancing intellectual inquiry with sensory experience, the exhibition invites viewers to engage with the textures, rhythms, and stories embedded in its materials – offering both a reflection Punjab’s past and a reimagining of its presence within contemporary art.

PUNJ•AB – A SUBLIME TERRAIN. Pakistan National Pavilion at the 61. Venice Art Biennale | Faiza Butt

The Ministry of National Heritage and Culture of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan presents Pakistan’s participation in the 61. Venice Art Biennale, marking the country’s second presence after 2019.

“Punj•AB: A Sublime Terrain” is a major solo exhibition by Faiza Butt curated by Beatriz Cifuentes Feliciano, open until November 22 inside the space Ex Farmacia Solveni, a former pharmacy in the lively Dorsoduro district.

Conceived specifically for the pavilion, the project marks both a continuation of Butt’ longstanding engagement with identity, memory, and representation, and a significan departure into new material and collaborative, spatial practices.

The exhibition takes the region of Punjab as its point of departure – both a deeply personal geography for the Lahore-born artist and a historically rich site shaped by trade, migration, and cultural exchange from the time of the Indus Valley Civilisation to the present day.
Rather than offering a single narrative, the pavilion unfolds as a transhistorical, layered journey through “chapters” of history.

RAGE BAIT | Eva & Franco Mattes presented by Autotelic Foundation

At Palazzo Franchetti the artists subject a suite of 16th century rooms to architectural banalization.
A scenography of prefabricated components including raised flooring, cages, and cable trays (most commonly fitted in datacentres and crypto mining facilities) ‘support’ two new bodies of work.

At the second venue presenting RAGE BAIT —a private swimming pool located next to Palladio’s famous Il Redentore church— the pair stage a monumental site-specific video installation titled But I Love Human (2025). Here, the pool water ripples with the reflection of moving images generated by a massive LED screen suspended over the water.
The work’s staging creates a contemporary reflection akin to that of the Greek myth of Narcissus, who vainly fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water.

RAGE BAIT arrives at a moment when provocation is no longer fringe but is instead native to digital infrastructures. Under these conditions, the strange is the new normal—a feedback loop in which platforms, users, and algorithms train one another into ever more reactive configurations.

Autotelic Foundation presents RAGE BAIT, an exhibition of new works by the Italian artist duo Eva & Franco Mattes, curated by Nadim Samman & Luisa Haustein.
Staged across two iconic venues, RAGE BAIT is currently on view at the Palazzo Franchetti overlooking the Grand Canal, and Le Cabanon - a private swimming pool on Giudecca.

The exhibition title is derived from the internet slang term ‘rage bait’: content engineered to provoke outrage, hijack attention, or extract a visceral emotional response before reason can intervene.
Spanning installation, video, and generative AI, the show explores how rage bait is the logical—often inevitable - endpoint of platforms optimised for user engagement.

Eva & Franco Mattes have spent over twenty years tracking the lacunae of networked life and have been influential on two successive generations of artists exploring the cultural impacts of digital change in Europe and the US. This project extends their focus on tensions between the polished surface of online content and its murky ethical depths.

Don’t miss them: you have until 31 May to visit the exhibition at Le Cabanon, while the project at Palazzo Franchetti will remain open until 30 June!

“In a city that is steadily losing residents, inhabiting becomes a political act. Choosing a lived-in house means re-hosting the Venetian art system from within and asserting that Venice is not the backdrop of the project, but the project itself” - Caroline Corbetta, curator of KUNSTHAUS PARADISO

Rather than adding another layer to the city’s event-driven calendar, KUNSTHAUS PARADISO proposes a shift in scale and perspective: from spectacle to proximity, from representation to presence.
You are all invited to discover the project at Palazzo Molin Querini until May 31.

KUNSTHAUS PARADISO. abitare Venezia  | Venice International Foundation in partnership with Havas Arte e Cultura

Conceived and curated by Caroline Corbetta and commissioned by Venice International Foundation in partnership with Havas Arte e Cultura, KUNSTHAUS PARADISO. abitare Venezia (inhabiting Venice) presents a project around a simple but loaded gesture: to work within a house that is actually inhabited.
At Palazzo Molin Querini, a lived-in palazzo overlooking the Grand Canal, domestic space is not aestheticized but operational.

The project adopts abitare (inhabiting) not as a metaphor, but as a condition. Conversations, performances, get-togethers and various forms of convivial gatherings become part of the project’s structure, dissolving the boundaries between exhibition, production and social space.

Bringing together more than 50 artists living and working in Venice, alongside curators, writers, designers and artisans, the project positions itself less as an exhibition than as a situated infrastructure—one that foregrounds the artists, practices and informal networks that constitute Venice’s contemporary scene.
KUNSTHAUS PARADISO does not occupy Venice, it inhabits it.

🔸️NALINI MALANI – OF WOMAN BORN | Kiran Nadar Museum of Art
Official Collateral Event of the 61. Art Biennale

Across nine channels of projection, Of Woman Born leads us into a deep, dark cave-like chamber with moving images.
Mythic figures, drawings, silhouettes, drifting texts, and apparitions refuse to settle into a single, coherent narrative. A haunting soundscape of twenty minutes courses through the space, superimposing the past and present, myth and memory, justice and impunity.

We are invited into this unsettling space not to resolve the story of Orestes, but to live through its afterlives, and to listen to the dispossessed women whose muted histories return here with a demand to be heard.

Projected directly on the salt-encrusted walls are 67 graffiti-style animations, composed of more than 33,000 individual iPad drawings, that flicker, glint, and move.

Eschewing the digital stylus for the visceral feel of her own fingers, Malani treats drawing as a form of cellular growth, where images evolve and break away like living organisms, while still allowing for ‘pauses’ and moments that foreground the “lightness of being”, both of which she feels are integral to not just absorbing the work, but also life.
