Sacred Water
By Valerio Calsolaro (video) / Jack Sapienza (sound)
Sacred Water is an audiovisual work born from the encounter between Valerio Calsolaro’s generative imagery and Jack Sapienza’s sound landscape, offering a reflection on water as a primordial element and shared resource to be preserved.
The project took shape through a collaboration in Italy between the Stato dell’Arte festival in Lecce and Algo:ritmi in Turin, with an initial site-specific intervention at the Apulian Aqueduct Reservoir — a space that is itself memory and infrastructure of water. Generative aesthetics and artificial intelligence become tools of poetic inquiry, translating the complexity of the liquid element into image, rhythm, and resonance.
The work then extends into an international circulation: its presence at the World Ocean Celebration Festival marks a further opening, in which water — from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean — confirms itself as a conceptual and narrative thread. The work enters into dialogue with each context it traverses, reframing its visual and sonic device in relation to local ecosystems.
