In its 33 years of activity the Association Alpe Adria Cinema and its main project, the Trieste Film Festival, have always stood out for the originality of their initiatives. The festival has analysed and brought to light films and directors that have been forgotten for many years. The Association Alpe Adria Cinema was founded with the precise aim of promoting and expanding all initiatives in the
field of cinema, experimentation and video providing a factor of cultural growth and specific investigations in the area of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the countries on the Mediterranean. The Trieste Film Festival has acquired increasing importance nationally and internationally, becoming a unique point of reference, above all as regards the film-making of Central and Eastern European countries. At a national level, the festival plays a leading role, being the only festival to have dealt with the film production of these countries for years and with scrupulous attention. Beside the official selection and the sidebar programmes, starting from 2010 the festival hosts the co-production meetings “When East Meets West”, which involves more than 120 professionals coming from all over Europe. Nei suoi 33 anni di attività l’associazione Alpe Adria Cinema e il suo progetto più importante, il Trieste Film Festival, si sono sempre distinti per l’originalità delle loro iniziative. Il festival ha analizzato e portato visibilità a film e registi che erano stati dimenticati per molti anni. L’associazione Alpe Adria Cinema è stata fondata con il preciso scopo di promuovere e amplificare tutte le iniziative nei campi del cinema, della sperimentazione e dell’audiovisivo, contribuendo di fatto alla crescita culturale e alla ricerca nei paesi dell’Europa centro orientale, l’Asia centrale e i paesi del Mediterraneo. Il Trieste Film Festival ha acquisito sempre maggiore rilevanza a livello nazionale e internazionale, divenendo un punto di riferimento unico nel suo genere, soprattutto per quanto riguarda le cinematografie dell’Europa centro orientale. A livello nazionale il festival ricopre un ruolo fondamentale, essendo l’unico festival ad aver seguito la produzione cinematografica di questi paesi con scrupolosa attenzione. Accanto alle selezioni ufficiali e i programmi collaterali, a partire dal 2010 il festival organizza i meeting internazionali di co-produzione When East Meets West, che coinvolgono più di 120 professionisti del cinema provenienti da tutta Europa.
