OPEN CIRCUS LAB propone corsi di formazione gratuiti, in forma di stage, nell'ambito di diverse discipline del circo contemporaneo:

L'utenza potenziale delle attività formative è di 90 giovani (15 per ciascuna disciplina) di età compresa tra i16 ed i 35 anni. Finalità del progetto è quella di incen
tivare la ricerca pedagogica e la contaminazione interdisciplinare nell'ambito del settore circense (nonchè la sua ricaduta sociale sul territorio della Basilicata), grazie alla consulenza e collaborazione di grandi direttori artistici europei (Scuola di Circo Carampa di Madrid e Festival di Mirabilia di Fossano-Cn). Il circo contemporaneo associa l’attività ludica e sportiva, intesa come strumento educativo ai fini della formazione olistica delle persone, all'integrazione artistica e multiculturale. OPEN CIRCUS LAB diviene così luogo di aggregazione e interscambio, capace di incrementare in ciascuno dei suoi partecipanti la consapevolezza di sé, la fiducia in sè stesso e nel prossimo, l’espressività, la sperimentazione di nuovi linguaggi artistici, la cooperazione, il senso di appartenenza alla collettività, il miglioramento delle relazioni comunitarie. OPEN CIRCUS LAB prevede di realizzare anche diverse azioni di sensibilizzazione sul territorio regionale (spettacoli, attività per bambini e adolescenti,…) e di mettere a disposizione gratuitamente (un giorno a settimana da maggio a settembre 2015) una Palestra attrezzata per l'allenamento circense presso il Centro Cecilia di Tito. Il progetto si concluderà con :
- la realizzazione della prima Convention di Arti Circensi lucana, una residenza artistica della portata di 300 fruitori e della durata di cinque giorni (ultima settimana di settembre 2015) dove grandi artisti, maestri e allievi condividono spazi, insegnamenti e spettacoli, al fine di evolvere nell'apprendimento e nell'integrazione delle diverse discipline, di sperimentare nuove espressioni creative e nuove interazioni con il territorio
-la realizzazione e la presentazione di un documentario
OPEN CIRCUS LAB è finanziato dalla Regione Basilicata nell’ambito delle azioni previste dal progetto Visioni Urbane ("Progetti innovativi per l’avvio e la valorizzazione della rete dei centri per la creatività giovanile"). OPEN CIRCUS LAB è uno dei tanti progetti che hanno contribuito alla costruzione del percorso di candidatura di Matera a Capitale Europea della Cultura nel 2019, in quanto enfatizza la dimensione internazionale attraverso le coproduzioni tra gli operatori locali ed esteri su temi e narrative che possono essere di interesse anche per altre città e regioni europee. OPEN CIRCUS LAB proposes free training courses, through a practical stage method, in the context of different disciplines of the contemporary circus:

The potential target of the training activities is composed of a group of 90 young people (15 for each activity) aged between 16 and 35 years. The aim of the project is to increase the pedagogical research and interdisciplinary contamination in the field of circus arts (as well as its social impact on Basilicata's territory), thanks to the advice and collaboration of important European art directors (Carampa Circus School of Madrid - ESP and Mirabilia Festival from Fossano, Cuneo - IT). Contemporary circus associates recreational activities and sports, meant as an educational instrument for holistic development of people and artistic and multicultural interaction. OPEN CIRCUS LAB becomes therefore a place of aggregation and exchange, able to raise in every participant self-consciousness, self-confidence and faith, expressivity, experimentation of new artistic languages, cooperation, the sense of belonging to the collectivity and the improvement of community bonds. OPEN CIRCUS LAB expects also to realise various awareness-raising actions in the regional area (shows, activities for child and teenagers..) and to make available an equipped Gym for free for circus training at Cecilia Center in Tito (once a week from May to September 2015). The project will lead to:
- the realization of the first Lucanian Convention of Circus Arts, an artistic residence imagined to welcome up to 300 participants during 5 days (last week of September 2015), where important artists, teachers and apprentices share spaces, teachings and shows, with the purpose of evolving by learning and integrating the various disciplines, testing new creative expressions and new interaction to the territory.
- the realisation and presentation of a video documentary
OPEN CIRCUS LAB is financed by Regione Basilicata through the actions planned by the project Visioni Urbane ("Innovative projects to start and to increase the value of a net of young creativity centers). OPEN CIRCUS LAB is one of the many projects that contributed to the building of the path of Matera's candidacy as European Cultural Capital 2019, as it emphasizes the international dimension throughout the co-production between local and foreign operators in matter of issues and narratives that can be interesting also for other cities and other European regions.
