_About the workshop_

ZONE OF THE UNKNOWN

Zone of the Unknown invites participants to explore movement beyond form, diving into deep physicality through improvisation, instant composition and skeletal awareness. The workshop focuses on dancing from the body’s internal architecture, cultivating efficiency, sensitivity, and presence while opening pathways toward visceral and embodied movement.

Through guided improvisation, participants will investigate the interplay of presence and absence within shared movement practice. How does our perception of space shift when elements are layered, removed, or transformed? How do our understandings of boundaries, agency, and freedom evolve in an increasingly fragmented world? These questions become entry points into exploring uncertainty through instinctive, intuitive, and embodied decision-making.

Participants will engage in inventive movement tasks designed to sharpen spontaneity, adaptability, and precision. Individual movement research is woven together with collective improvisation, creating opportunities to navigate the relationship between self and group, structure and freedom. The workshop also explores the tension between optical two-dimensionality and tangible three-dimensionality through shifting perspectives, spatial awareness, and embodied response.

Rooted in somatic research, contemporary dance, and collaborative practice, Leila’s approach emphasizes curiosity, playfulness, and horizontal learning. Participants are encouraged to develop agency within their own creative process, fostering an environment of experimentation, exchange, and discovery. The workshop culminates in an intuitive and organic approach to composition, where movement emerges from attentive listening, imagination, and embodied experience.

_About the creation/performance project_
The Sneeze Lab is a living, almost wild laboratory where movement emerges from organic impulses rather than rigid techniques. The “sneeze” acts as a metaphor: an involuntary, unpredictable gesture that breaks control and opens the way to authentic movement.
It is a space of exploration that moves from the inside out, where sensations and micro-movements expand into dance, in dialogue with the environment and with other bodies. Here, chaos is not a mistake but a creative force—an invitation to let go of control and discover a personal language rooted in identity and everyday life.

BIO

Natalia Pulido Granada is a choreographer and performer who blends her Colombian roots with the creative energy of Rome. In her work, gesture becomes a ritual and an act of resistance against homogenization and disconnection from the natural world. Her choreographies evoke sensory landscapes where bodies transform, decompose, and recombine, reflecting the constant change of nature.
Her research, inspired by biodiversity, transforms movement into a poetic language that tells the fragile and chaotic strength of life. She currently focuses on performance art and relational art, exploring the concept of community and creating spaces for sharing. Her most recent research focuses on sneezing and involuntary movements, investigating how the body interacts with public space as a place of dialogue with others. Graduated in Contemporary Dance from the Academia Superior de Artes-ASAB and holding a Master’s degree in Choreography from the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, she won the Erasmus scholarship at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid (2017) and is recently the winner of the A Landscape 2024 grant, which will allow her to participate in the DANCESCAPES 2024 training program.
