Some shots from this amazing project in Olbernhauer Hutzenstübl where we could expand our traditional textile skills and learn new techniques from local master crafters and prototype new ideas by combining 3d printing, laser cutting facilities and wood-working knowlege to design and build a new loom that we activated during Makers United Festival 2026 in Chemnitz. Makers United 2026

Im Rahmen unseres Maker Residence Programms wächst unsere internationale Community jedes Jahr. Mittlerweile zählen wir über 50 engagierte Macher*innen aus ganz unterschiedlichen Hintergründen, von Europa über Japan bis nach Ghana. Kompetenzen in den Bereichen Ingenieurwesen, Elektronik, Handwerk, Materialforschung, Fashion Tech, Holz- und Metallbearbeitung, Kunst, traditionelles Handwerk, Robotik, Textilien und vielem mehr werden in einem peer-to-peer organisierten, dezentralen Residency-Programm ausgetauscht, erlernt, gelehrt und weitergegeben. Wissen verbreitet sich, und Innovation gedeiht.

Wir sind sehr dankbar gegenüber all diesen fantastischen, kreativen und hochqualifizierten Expert*innen, die zu uns in die Region Chemnitz kommen, am Programm teilnehmen und dieses großartige internationale Maker-Netzwerk lebendig halten.

Ebenso sind wir sehr dankbar für das lokale Engagement der Makerspaces in der Region, die diese Personen beherbergen und gemeinsam mit ihnen fantastische Projekte umsetzen und so den Austausch nachhaltig gestalten.

It's a great pleasure to be here Olbernhauer Hutzenstübl with the dear friend and artist Stefanie Hetzel from Fabelwolle and get some of her amazing natural dyed hand-spun threads for our new project and participatory tapestry 'UPCYCLING ZEIT' that we will activate together with the school students and public of Makers United 26 ~ 27 Juni in Chemnitz

Our weave~labs with the public of Rural Design Week for the project TAM - La Cultura è un fiume

Encouraging a return to the use of local fleece and reactivating the ancient gestures of spinning and weaving, these free workshops give life to a shared experience and collective work - 'The Next Flock' - which metabolizes raw wool and revitalizes the connection with pastoral culture.
