Another piece from before Luna had a name.

London, one year ago.

Looking back at these tattoos now, I’m starting to see the things I kept returning to — the shapes, the lines, the strange little decisions that eventually began forming a language of their own.

That’s partly why I’m documenting the older work alongside what I’m making now.

Not to rewrite the past as if there was always a plan.

Just to show how something gets built.

Piece by piece. Person by person.

Thanks to everyone who’s been part of it so far.

Luna continues.

Finding a style takes time.

Around this point I started thinking less about what Luna looked like, and more about what the tattoos should look like.

Little references to the machine started finding their way into the drawings too. The dice sitting on top of the dagger is a small nod to traditional coil tattoo machine building — where dice have often been used on the contact screw.

I didn’t know exactly where the style was going yet.

I was just drawing, tattooing and paying attention to what kept coming back.

Looking at it now, I can see some of the language beginning to appear.

A year before Luna had a name.

Back in London, tattooing, drawing and trying to understand what I wanted my work to become.

At the time, I didn’t know.

This was a perfect walk-in to get, Fineline black and grey rose.

Looking back now, it feels like a small part of something much bigger — the beginning of a visual language I’m still building today.

I want to document that process here. Not just the finished work, but everything that happens along the way.

CHAPTER III — DREAM

If I’m going to ask someone to trust a handmade tattoo machine…

it has to tattoo me first.

This chapter follows the first prototype marks made with Luna—a handmade coil tattoo machine at the centre of an ongoing art project exploring authorship, obsession and the relationship between artist and instrument.

Part tattoo film, part performance art, part arthouse experiment.

Shot as a fragmented dream: repeated selves, distorted time, prototype designs, fake skin and the first tattoo made on my own body.

Every mark teaches me something.

Every chapter moves the work forward.

Eventually, these experiments will become original tattoo collections, paintings and a growing body of work shaped by the same instrument.
