"Sharevari" by the Detroit group A Number of Names is widely recognized as the world's very first proto-Detroit techno record. Released on Capriccio Records in 1981, this seminal track predates the foundational works of the Bellevue Three (Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson) and bridges the sonic gap between European electronic music, Italo disco, and the future sound of Detroit.

"Papua New Guinea" by the British electronic music duo The Future Sound of London (FSOL) is widely considered a seminal milestone in electronic music history. "Clear" is a foundational 1983 electro track by the Detroit electronic music group Cybotron, composed by techno pioneer Juan Atkins and Richard "Rik" Davis. Released by Fantasy Records as the third single from their debut studio album, Enter, the song is universally recognized as a crucial bridge between early electronic funk and the birth of Detroit techno.
