Apollo contributes to the Digital Alps Conference in Brussels 🏔️

On 9 July 2026, the Apollo project participated in the Digital Alps Conference in Brussels. The event provided an important opportunity to present the project, its objectives and its current pilot activities to a wide range of stakeholders from across Europe.

As part of the conference, Apollo actively contributed to discussions on the role of digital transformation in Alpine regions, with a particular focus on rural and mountain communities. Key topics included remote work, digital infrastructure, smart communities and the development of future-oriented public services.

The conference also enabled valuable exchanges with ministers and delegates from European Union institutions, representatives of the European Commission and Strategies (i.e., EUSALP, Baltic Sea, Black Sea, Adriatic), regions, National Contact Points, partner projects and interested participants.

Apollo’s participation strengthened the project’s visibility within and beyond the Alpine Space. It also provided further opportunities to present ongoing pilot activities, exchange experiences and discuss potential areas for future cooperation.

🎓 Apollo project at the Macro-regional & Sea Basin Strategies Days

The Apollo project attended the Macro-regional & Sea Basin Strategies Days in Brussels on 8th and 9th July 2026.

The event offered the opportunity to connect with stakeholders from EU institutions, macro-regional and sea basin strategies, ministries, National Contact Points, regions, partner projects and other initiatives.

Apollo joined the Networking Village and took part in workshops, creating space to exchange ideas, discuss pilot actions and explore possible cooperation.

The focus was on networking and building new contacts. 🇪🇺

Apollo project results presented at the Regio Bregenzerwald meeting 🤝

On 2 July 2026, the latest results of the Interreg Alpine Space Project Apollo were presented at the Regio Bregenzerwald meeting.

During the meeting, a full report was handed over to Regio Bregenzerwald and the Municipality of Doren, represented by mayor Guido Flatz. It includes prioritised recommendations and an economic evaluation of selected measures.

The report can help rural municipalities implement remote work and modern welfare services step by step. ✅

💻🤝 On 07 July 2026, the Slovenian and Italian partners of the Interreg ASP Project: Apollo came together for a twinning meeting to exchange experiences, share progress, and learn from each other's pilot training activities implemented in both countries.

During the meeting, partners presented their ongoing work and key achievements:
🔹 The Municipality of Novo mesto showcased the development of its e-application portal.
🔹 CIK Trebnje presented the training programmes delivered to municipal employees.
🔹 FOŠ introduced its training programme aimed at strengthening the digital skills of local citizens.
🔹 The Municipality of Saluzzo presented the implementation of its pilot activity, concerning the experimentation of the digital animation service for SMEs, supporting workers to access digital welfare services

Although the pilot activities address different local needs, both the Slovenian and Italian partners reached the same conclusion: successful digital inclusion is not only about technology—it is about people. Building trust and supporting citizens through human relationships is essential for encouraging the adoption of digital public services.

The twinning meeting confirmed and strengthened this shared approach through the exchange of good practices. Both partners highlighted that digital inclusion is most effective when technical expertise is combined with social support. In Saluzzo, this is reflected in a multidisciplinary digital animation model that brings together a digital enabler and a social enhancer. In Novo mesto, workshops for citizens will be delivered jointly by an IT expert and a psychologist, while vulnerable groups will receive additional support from organisations specialised in working with these target groups.

Twinning meetings like this provide an excellent opportunity to exchange good practices, strengthen cross-border cooperation, and jointly develop people-centred solutions that make digital public services more accessible and inclusive for everyone. 🇸🇮 🇮🇹

Interreg Apollo Project at the FHV Marketplace Event 2026🎉

On 25 June 2026, the Interreg Alpine Space Project Apollo was presented for the second time at the FHV Marketplace Event. The presentation shared updated insights on remote work and welfare services in rural municipalities.

Together with the Municipality of Doren, feedback was gathered from 23 municipal representatives across Vorarlberg. This represents almost one quarter of all municipalities in the region.

The results show where municipalities can take action. Stronger digital collaboration with citizens and cross-municipal cooperation, for example through job sharing or digital service offerings, have concrete potential for the future of rural municipalities in Vorarlberg. ⛰️

On Saturday, May 30th, a lecture was delivered to the students of the Bachelor’s Degree Programme at FHV – Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences, during which the European project Interreg Alpine Space APOLLO was presented. 🎓

The students attending the programme are part-time students who are already actively working in business and industry. This created a particularly valuable exchange between academic research and professional practice, enriching the discussion with real-world experiences and perspectives from different sectors.

The session focused on the APOLLO project’s mission to improve wellbeing, work-life balance, digital inclusion, and social innovation in Alpine regions through the use of digital technologies and collaborative welfare approaches.

Particular attention was given to FHV’s contribution to the project. FHV is actively involved in the design and development of digital and human-centered solutions supporting social innovation and territorial welfare. In addition, FHV developed the Apollo Joint Service Database, a collaborative digital platform designed to support communication, knowledge sharing, stakeholder interaction, and the exchange of innovative practices among project partners and regional actors.

The Slovenian partners continue with the implementation of pilot activities within the Interreg ASP Project: Apollo 🚀

On 25 May 2026, we held a workshop at the Municipality of Novo mesto entitled “Successful Communication with Demanding and Difficult Customers”. 🤝

Through practical examples and the exchange of experiences, participants explored:
🔹 how to recognize different types of demanding customers,
🔹 how to prevent conflicts from escalating,
🔹 how to maintain professional and respectful communication even in challenging situations,
🔹 why empathy and clear communication are essential when working with people.

Special attention was also given to communication with vulnerable target groups ❤️ and to finding approaches that help create a more inclusive and accessible user experience for all citizens.

Special thanks to lecturer Boštjan Polutnik for the excellent workshop delivery, and to all participants for their active involvement, open discussion, and valuable contributions 🙌

Slovenian partners of the Apollo project successfully carried out the first part of the pilot training 💡

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, the pilot training titled “From Security to Practice: Effective Support for Users of e-Services” took place at the Municipality of Novo mesto.

Participants:
✔️ learned about the current state and development of the new digital platform,
✔️ deepened their understanding of digital security, ethics, and data protection,
✔️ enhanced their skills through a practical workshop focused on supporting users in the use of e-services.

Special emphasis was placed on recognizing common user challenges, effectively guiding users through digital processes, and ensuring safe and responsible practices.

The APOLLO project continues to strengthen collaboration between public institutions, research organizations, and the local environment for a better digital future. 🚀
