Sono molto orgoglioso che il lungometraggio di animazione "La violinista" che ho prodotto con Altri Occhi, la mia nuova società dedicata all’animazione e ai nuovi formati, in co-produzione con Robot Playground (Singapore) e TV On (Spagna), dopo essere stato selezionato ai programmi di sviluppo dei più importanti mercati cinematografici come quello di Annecy, Tokyo, Taipei e il MIA di Roma, ora sia stato selezionato in Concorso ufficiale al prossimo Festival di Annecy 2026. È il risultato di un intenso lavoro durato più di due anni.
Il film è co-diretto dal regista di Singapore Ervin Han, già vincitore di 4 Asian Academy Creative Award, e dal leggendario animatore Disney Raúl García (Il re leone, Pochaontas, Tarzan, Il gobbo di Notre Dame), e prodotto con il sostegno di MiC, Lazio Cinema International, Singaporian Film Fund, i fondi nazionali spagnoli ICAA e regionali IVC e AFÍN SGR, di RTVE, ÀPUNT MEDIA, e del Red Sea Film Fund. Le vendite internazionali sono affidate alla società France TV distribution.
Ho conosciuto Ervin Han qualche anno fa al Festival di Tokyo e abbiamo condiviso subito la nostra passione per storie che raccontano emozioni profonde ancorate nel nostro mondo. Questo è "La violinista": una grande storia d’amore senza fine che ci ricorda come le guerre portino solo alla distruzione, di vite e sogni. Un messaggio che di questi tempi diventa sempre più importante ricordare nelle nostre opere. Pur essendo la prima volta che sono coinvolto in un progetto di animazione, credo che questo linguaggio - anche oltre il settore per bambini e ragazzi - offra oggi sempre più potenzialità per raccontare storie complesse e tematiche mature. Sono felice che un festival così importante come Annecy abbia riconosciuto il valore della nostra opera perché questo aiuterà il film ad avere una risonanza mondiale. Ma soprattutto sono felice di aver contribuito ad una storia che unisce mondi e culture diverse, ma che parla a tutti noi come esseri umani.
I am very proud that the animated feature film "The Violinist" that I produced with Altri Occhi, my new company dedicated to animation and new formats, in co-production with Robot Playground (Singapore) and TV On (Spain), after being selected for the development programs of the most important film markets such as Annecy, Tokyo, Taipei and the MIA in Rome, has now been selected in the Official Competition at the upcoming Annecy Film Festival 2026. It is the result of an intense work that lasted more than two years.
The film is co-directed by Singaporean director Ervin Han, winner of 4 Asian Academy Creative Awards, and legendary Disney animator Raúl García (The Lion King, Pochaontas, Tarzan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), and produced with the support of MiC, Lazio Cinema International, the Singapore Film Fund, the Spanish national funds ICAA and regional funds IVC and AFÍN SGR, of RTVE, ÀPUNT MEDIA, and the Red Sea Film Fund. International sales are being handled by France TV distribution.
I met Ervin a few years ago at the Tokyo Film Festival and we immediately shared our passion for stories that tell deep emotions anchored in our world. This is "The Violinist": a great never-ending love story that reminds us that wars only lead to the destruction of lives and dreams. A message that in these difficult times becomes increasingly important to remind in our works. Although it is the first time that I am involved in an animation project, I believe that this language - even beyond the sector for children and young adults - offers today more and more potential to tell complex stories and mature themes. I am delighted that such an important festival as Annecy has recognised the value of our work because this will help the film to have a worldwide resonance. But above all, I am happy to have contributed to a story that unites different worlds and cultures, but that speaks to all of us as human beings.
