We barely remember what came before this precious moment
Choosing to be here right now
Hold on, stay inside
This body holding me
Reminding me that I am not alone in
This body makes me feel eternal
All this pain is an illusion
"Nell’opera di Maree Azzopardi non esiste natura morta. Piuttosto la capacità di intercettare il volo in movimento degli uccelli e trattenerlo nelle forme vive di un’arte che sottrae al tempo ogni effimera soluzione”
Achille Bonito Oliva

Gianluca Cosci
Gianluca Cosci investigates the different interpretations of iconoclasm concerning the concept of visual obliteration using existing artworks as palimpsests and creating new pieces through painting and photography. In his research the artist aims to convey the concept of 'hidden' by partially veiling images and denying visions.
Gianluca Cosci: "I am interested in Iconoclasm as a way to explore, question and analyse the power of images. I see the diminishment of visual perception as a stimulus for imagination and contemplation: the fascination of images can be amplified when they are hidden or denied."
Gianluca Cosci (1970, Italy) completed a BA in painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti, Bologna. Between 1999 and 2011 he lived and worked in London where he obtained Master degrees in fine art at Chelsea College of Art and in art and design at the Institute of Education, University of London. In 2011 he moved to Brussels where he currently lives and works.

Il Ponte Contemporanea Art Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening show of a new space in Rome, Via G. P. Pannini 3 , in close proximity to the MAXXI, with Franco Silvestro “MANI SULLA CITTÁ” exhibition.
Franco Silvestro has always oriented his research towards what he defines as the “poetics of the social,” which still today, with a new attitude, is present in his works.
Mani sulla città (Hands on the City), the title of these works, is taken from the Francesco Rosi film which denounces the ruthless corruption and building speculation of 1950s Naples.

“Since 1993, the Gallery Il Ponte Contemporanea has been hosting exhibitions which well represent the international scene. Fulfilling its name, it has been a location of transit, contact and exchange for many international artists of different generations. The participating artists always broke through the wall of inertia, looking for a chance to represent the relationship between the subject and history, in order to maintain their imperative not to become historians of the moment. This is also why the public has always been an active participant to the events and exhibitions of Il Ponte Contemporanea, since it is representative of the work: the social body giving flesh and substance to the skeleton of history...” (Achille Bonito Oliva – The Bridges of Art)

Since 1993, Galleria Il Ponte Contemporanea has changed location within Rome several times, moving to larger spaces or responding to more dynamic areas of the city – via della Lungara 15 (Trastevere), via di Montoro 10 (ancient centre), via di Monserrato 23 (ancient centre), via Giovanni Castel Bolognese 81 (Trastevere-Testaccio), finally settling in via di Panico 55-59 (ancient city centre). From 1994 to 2000, together with the collector Giovanni Giuliani (Rome) and curator Jonathan Turner (Sydney), it established the radical alternative space Il Ponte Projects (via di Montoro 5), which was set up to organize last-minute contemporary art events, performances and installations. This idea helped to change the concept of how art was presented in the Roman capital.
From 2014 Il Ponte Contemporanea starts a new adventure in China creating Il Ponte Chu Contemporanea. A new bridge between the western and the eastern world.
The new location, the Jewish Ghetto in Rome, is a uge space on three floor. The underground floor is a bunker for special projects called STONGBOX.
From February 2018 Il Ponte Start a new project called ‘Show Case’ in Testaccio, the most creative and stimulating district of the capital.
