Capital Culture House in collaboration with OCCO Art Gallery is pleased to announce physical exhibition «Acts of Translation»

Every act of creation is a crossing — from thought to form, from feeling to matter, from one world into another. This exhibition brings together works across diverse visual languages, united not by style but by process: each piece is the result of a transformation. Something is always lost in translation. Something new always emerges. Acts of Translation is a meditation on that distance — the space between origin and form, where art lives.

Location and dates:
Our Madrid exhibition “Acts of Translation” will be held at OCCO gallery (C. de Espalter, 13, 1° Derecha, Retiro, 28014 Madrid), located next to El Prado Museum and Retiro Park area, from June 29th to July 4th, 2026.

Ana Mascaró

Ana Mascaró Vives creates emotionally driven abstract paintings where color, texture, and movement become a language of intuition and inner experience. Through layered compositions and vibrant chromatic contrasts, her work explores freedom, energy, and the emotional connection between the artwork and the viewer.

Karla Ochoa

Karla’s work feels intimate, instinctive, and emotionally textured. Her visual language balances softness with tension — creating pieces that seem less concerned with perfection and more focused on memory, feeling, and presence. There’s a raw honesty in the way color, form, and atmosphere interact, giving the work a dreamlike quality that invites reflection rather than explanation. Through a deeply personal aesthetic, Karla transforms everyday emotion into visual poetry.

Mariko Kumon

Mariko Kumon’s work explores memory and the fleeting nature of human presence through delicate installations and sculptural forms. Using modest materials such as thread, paper, and light, she creates quiet, immersive spaces that invite reflection and introspection. Her practice emphasizes subtlety and transience, often suggesting the human body through absence rather than direct representation. In these contemplative environments, viewers are encouraged to engage with the fragile boundaries between presence and disappearance, forming personal connections shaped by their own memories and perceptions.

Gema Muñoz

Gema’s artistic creation is dominated by portraiture and fantastic realism, with a current stage experimenting and creating collages, in which she mixes analog collage and photography. Her works present contrasts and games of superimposed planes, creating a very particular surrealism.

Gema creates her work based on a feeling where the process begins with the camera in her hands, and ends with the viewer, and their observation and perception of the work. Creating an intimate dialogue between the essence of the artist and the observer.

Yutta Bernhard’s work explores closeness through restraint, where form, material, and negative space become equal participants. Each piece functions as a quiet gesture—precise, tactile, and intentionally unresolved—inviting the viewer to project meaning rather than receive it fully formed. The practice sits between art and object, emphasizing presence over ornament and allowing subtle shifts in light, movement, and proximity to complete the work.
