What if the Silk Road was never just a map, but a shifting space of identity? This September, the historic dialogue between Rome and China reopens in a new contemporary light.

From 11 September 2026 to 6 January 2027, rhinoceros hosts Xi Niu: In Search of New Routes, a special exhibition curated by bringing together seven artistic practices from China: , , , , Xie Nanxing, , and . Spanning painting, sculpture, film, and material research, the works explore centuries of cross-cultural encounter between East and West.

The events of the Casa Brasil program continue on Thursday the 23rd from 6:30 PM, for a special screening of the Brazilian film “Ibirapema” (2022), presented by Lena Japiassú Macedo and followed by a talk with Maria Helena Japiassu.

Directed by Olinda Tupinambá, an indigenous artist and activist from the Tupinambá and Pataxó Hã-hã-hãe peoples, this visionary work challenges stereotypes by showing ancestry as a vibrant and contemporary force. In the film, the protagonist transforms into a jaguar, traversing space and time to spark a profound dialogue between indigenous knowledge, the urban landscape, and Western art.
Open to the public and free entrance upon availability.

Developed during his time working at the ceramics studio, the exhibition draws inspiration from Roman frescoes and grotesques. Through ceramics and works on paper, creates shifting landscapes of fragments, illusion and metamorphosis—a dialogue between Rome and Brazil that explores how matter resists, erodes and transforms over time.
