You've never actually seen the Colosseum.

⚔️ Gladiators clashed right where you're standing. And somehow, that same floor could flood on command. A full engineering system hidden beneath the stone, built to turn the arena into open water for a naval battle, ships and all.

❌️ This dome isn't real.

⛪️ Stand at the center of Sant'Ignazio di Loyola and look up. A soaring dome. Columns spiraling into the sky. Angels drifting through an open heaven.
None of it is built. It's paint.

🎨 In 1685, the Jesuits ran out of money for a real dome — so they hired a painter instead of a mason. Andrea Pozzo turned a flat ceiling into a sky.

👀 There's one exact spot on the floor, marked by a small marble disc, where the illusion is perfect. Move a few steps, and it collapses back into paint.

✨️ Some of Rome's greatest wonders were never built. They were imagined into existence.

🌉 Crossing Ponte Garibaldi means moving from one soul of Rome to another.
On one side, the alleys of Trastevere and its authentic life; on the other, the historic center, with domes and palaces reflected in the Tiber.

🚊Built between 1884 and 1892 and dedicated to the hero of the Italian unification, it was one of the first bridges in Rome made of steel and masonry.
Today, it’s famous for tram no. 8 and its sunset views, when the water turns gold and St. Peter’s dome crowns the horizon.

🏛 Basilica of St. John Lateran – Main Façade

⚒️ Built between 1732 and 1735 by Alessandro Galilei, commissioned by Pope Clement XII, this façade is a true manifesto of power and solemnity.

⛪️ Late Baroque with a classical soul: a monumental two-tiered façade, perfectly symmetrical, designed to affirm the basilica’s role as the Pope’s cathedral and the Mother of all Churches.

✝️ At the top stand 15 monumental statues, each about 7 meters tall:
Christ at the center, flanked by St. John the Baptist, St. John the Evangelist, and the 12 Doctors of the Latin Church — not the Apostles.

📜 The inscription “Christo Salvatori” recalls the original dedication to Christ the Savior.

🚪 The central bronze doors come from the Curia Julia, the ancient seat of the Roman Senate in the Forum — Imperial Rome entering Christian Rome.
The grand staircase emphasizes the ascent toward the sacred space, while the façade dominates the square as a symbol of spiritual authority.
