🐒 Il Notte di Fiaba Illustration Contest torna con una nuova avventura creativa dedicata a 𝐃𝐎𝐍 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐄: una mostra itinerante con il rispettivo catalogo e l’albo illustrato dal vincitore che sarà pubblicato da Giunti Editore.

✨ La promozione del concorso di quest’anno sarà accompagnata dalle illustrazioni create durante il Corso d’Illustrazione Avanzato tenuto dal Maestro Svjetlan Junaković - sculptor & illustrator lo scorso agosto a Riva del Garda. The call for entries of the 13th edition is now open!

🐒 The Notte di Fiaba Illustration Contest returns with a new creative adventure dedicated to 𝐃𝐎𝐍 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐗𝐎𝐓𝐄: a traveling exhibition with its official catalogue and a picture book illustrated by the winner, to be published by 𝐆𝐢𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢.

🏆 The announcement of the winners will take place at the 𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 2027!
🏛️ The exhibition will open at 𝐌𝐀𝐆 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐚 at the end of August 2027, during the 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐢 𝐅𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐚 Festival, on the occasion of the award ceremony and the presentation of the illustrated book.

✨ This year’s contest promotion will be accompanied by the illustrations created during the Advanced Illustration Course held by Master 𝐒𝐯𝐣𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐜́ in Riva del Garda last August. The first illustration we present to you – chosen as the official image of the call – is by 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐢.

L’artista, illustratrice e docente 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 propone un laboratorio per creare il proprio 𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐝𝐢 𝐯𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐨: un oggetto unico e personale, da costruire e riempire di ricordi, immagini, pensieri e storie. Carte diverse, cuciture semplici, collage e tecniche illustrative diventano gli strumenti per dare forma a un diario tutto da inventare.

Per l’energia narrativa e la ricchezza di spunti visivi, che rendono lo storyboard vivace, ironico e coinvolgente. Il progetto si distingue per la capacità di costruire una storia dinamica e piena di dettagli capaci di stimolare l’immaginazione dei più piccoli.
Per migliorare la leggibilità visiva, è importante lavorare su una gerarchia più chiara degli elementi, attraverso una gestione più controllata di colore e luce che guidi lo sguardo del lettore.

Per uno stile originale e riconoscibile, che dialoga con l’estetica della pixel art e dell’immaginario videoludico. Il progetto si distingue per ritmo, dinamismo e per alcune soluzioni narrative brillanti e sorprendenti. La tavola dell’albero ricorda Donkey Kong e Pac-Man ed è ricca di spunti narrativi divertenti e ironici.
Per rafforzare il progetto, è necessario lavorare sulla costanza qualitativa delle tavole, evitando dislivelli esecutivi che compromettono la coerenza del racconto.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐢
Per la personalità del segno e per l’uso audace del colore, che contribuisce a costruire un racconto visivo vivace e immediato. Lo storyboard si distingue per la presenza di soluzioni narrative interessanti e per una forte identità grafica. Per un’evoluzione più matura del progetto, è importante approfondire la caratterizzazione dei personaggi, superando soluzioni più stereotipate provenienti dai cartoni (e.g. gli occhi di Jane) in favore di una maggiore complessità espressiva.

The project stands out for its ability to construct a dynamic story filled with details that stimulate the imagination of young readers. To improve visual readability, it is important to work on a clearer hierarchy of elements, through a more controlled use of color and light that guides the viewer’s eye.

𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐨 𝐓𝐨𝐳𝐳𝐢
For an original and recognizable style that engages with pixel art aesthetics and the visual language of 1980s video games. The project stands out for rhythm, dynamism and several brilliant and unexpected narrative solutions. The tree scene recalls Donkey Kong and Pac-Man and is rich with playful and ironic narrative cues. To strengthen the project, it is necessary to work on the consistency of ex*****on across the spreads, avoiding uneven quality that compromises the coherence of the narrative.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐢
For the strong personality of her line and the bold use of color, which contributes to building a vivid and immediate visual narrative. The storyboard stands out for the presence of interesting narrative solutions and a clear graphic identity. For a more mature development of the project, it is important to deepen the characterization of the characters, moving beyond more stereotypical solutions drawn from animation (e.g. Jane’s eyes) toward greater expressive complexity.
