They're hidden in the most ordinary things we interact with every day.

So, for the first episode of Unnecessary Design Analysis, I picked something we all know: chocolate.

From Milka's iconic purple cow to Toblerone's triangle obsession, some of the world's most recognizable chocolate brands have carefully crafted their visual identity to become instantly recognizable around the world.

Every color, shape, logo, and packaging choice is designed to communicate something before you even take a bite.

The most important part of a restaurant experience might happen before anyone walks through the door.

In the QSR (Quick Service Restaurants) world, the journey often starts on a phone screen, through social media, a website, a digital menu, or a delivery app. Long before the food arrives, customers have already formed expectations about the brand, the experience, and even the meal itself.

QSR isn't just changing hospitality. It's opening up a new canvas for digital design.

But in Naples, "Ué" is much more than a greeting."Ué" can mean hello, hey, what's up, where have you been, look who's here, I haven't seen you in ages, and somehow everyone understands exactly what it means.

Arriving at SODA and spotting someone you've only met online? "Ué!"
Entering a bar and finding your usual crew already at the table? "Ué!"
Someone brings limoncello after dinner? "Ué!"

One word.
Infinite uses.

Because Neapolitans don't waste time with unnecessary consonants.
