Profondamente consapevole delle tensioni del suo tempo, Dylan, in The Meeting and the Threshold (L’incontro e la soglia), popola la scena con un gruppo di figure informi, raccolte attorno a qualcosa che sembra già accaduto o ancora in procinto di manifestarsi. La composizione si svolge in un’ambientazione che non appartiene a nessun luogo, evocando a tratti i Bari di Caravaggio, o meglio l’impressione di una società sospesa tra complicità e sospetto.
Deeply attuned to the tensions of his time, Dylan, in The Meeting and the Threshold, populates the scene with a group of formless figures gathered around something that seems either to have already happened or to be on the verge of unfolding. The composition unfolds in a setting that belongs to no specific place, at times evoking Caravaggio’s Bari — or rather, the impression of a society suspended between complicity and suspicion.
