2 to the power of five, a deeply powerful number
Having just spent a week in France, this programme is dedicated to Internationalism [and indeed Outernationalism] in the French style, reaching Australia and the US as well as expected Africa, Maghreb, and Southern & Eastern Europe - and the obligatory British [they get everywhere]. On the same trip I was reminded that France also - like other places we know - has unpleasant rightwing poliicians & police, and public anger & apathy. But examples of the good stuff run from the 1960s to the 2020s, and from dance tunes to in-the-zone out-there improvisation, free and freak-out.

2 elevato alla quinta potenza, un numero profondamente potente Avendo appena trascorso una settimana in Francia, questo programma è dedicato all'internazionalismo [e in effetti all'outernazionalismo] in stile francese, raggiungendo l'Australia e gli Stati Uniti, oltre all'immancabile Africa, al Maghreb e all'Europa meridionale e orientale, e all'immancabile Gran Bretagna [che arriva ovunque]. Durante lo stesso viaggio mi è stato ricordato che anche la Francia, come altri luoghi che conosciamo, ha politici e poliziotti di destra sgradevoli, e rabbia e apatia nell'opinione pubblica. Ma esempi di cose positive vanno dagli anni '60 agli anni 2020, dai brani dance all'improvvisazione più libera e fuori dagli schemi.
Sì, hai ancora bisogno di OA dopo 64 puntate.

Another one for the mathematicians - different kind of mathematicians this time: 3 of the 4 bands [only 4, sorry, you can blame Mr Henwood’s obsession with the Gong family] featured this month famously lived in the same house; a different 3 of the 4 bands heavily feature violin; a different 3 of the 4 bands metamorphosed from contrasting line-ups. And 4 of the 4 of them are in this month’s Outernational Artists, but we expect you knew that. It’s quite a heavy lineup this month, not recommended as a lullaby, though it does calm down a bit before the end.

Un altra puntata per i matematici - un tipo diverso di matematici, questa volta: 3 delle 4 band [solo 4, scusate, la colpa è dell'ossessione del signor Henwood per la famiglia Gong] presentate questo mese vivevano notoriamente nella stessa casa; altre 3 delle 4 band hanno un ruolo predominante del violino; altre 3 delle 4 band si sono trasformate da formazioni contrastanti. E 4 di queste 4 sono nella puntata di “Outernational Artists” di questo mese, ma immaginiamo che lo sapeste già. È una scaletta piuttosto pesante questo mese, non consigliata come ninna nanna, anche se si calma un po' verso la fine.

We invented a new form of mathematics at about 3.30 this morning. We’ve applied to have it verified.
At the moment we’re calling it Chronarithmetic Functions, the symbol is ƒ©.
We used it to combine 1966-1971 + of course 1850 [Groep 1850]; 1969 [The Meters]; 1973-74 [Santana]; 1998 [the return of Spaceways], 2013 [Spiro] and finally bringing the series to term with 2023 [Dreamwave]. Combine them using ƒ© and you get 62. Spooky, eh?

Abbiamo inventato una nuova forma di matematica verso le 3:30 di questa mattina. Abbiamo richiesto la sua verifica. Al momento la chiamiamo Funzioni Cronoritmetiche, il cui simbolo è ƒ©. L'abbiamo usata per combinare il periodo 1966-1971 + ovviamente il 1850 [Groep 1850]; il 1969 [The Meters]; il 1973-74 [Santana]; il 1998 [il ritorno di Spaceways], il 2013 [Spiro] e infine per concludere la serie con il 2023 [Dreamwave]. Combinandoli usando ƒ© si ottiene 62. Spaventoso, vero?

Massimiliano sarà ospite in trasmissionedove parlerà e leggerà qualche brano trattodalla sua ultima fatica letterariae ci farà ascoltare alcuni brani musicali che lo hanno ispirato
Trama:

Una madre in punto di morte affida alla figlia una storia antica: quella di una condottiera pronta ad attraversare il Rubicone, il confine oltre il quale non si torna più.
È un’eredità fatta di dolore, vendetta e scelte irrevocabili.

In una città dove la sofferenza diventa merce, un mago manipolatore, un fotografo disilluso, un becchino cinico e un inserviente senza scrupoli intrecciano i loro destini in un sottobosco di inganni e paure.

Poi appare una donna enigmatica, capace di incrinare ogni certezza e di mettere tutti di fronte al proprio limite.

For a moment there we thought Mr Henwood had woken up enough to realise we are well into the 2020s here: of the 10 albums played in this programme, 6 were made in the last 3 years, and several even in 2026. Then he goes and spoils it by indlulging in 30 minutes of a band from Bristol in the 1990s that if you were at one of their gigs you probably don’t remember it anyway… So near and yet so far out. Somewhere out on Highway 61…

Per un attimo abbiamo pensato che il signor Henwood si fosse finalmente svegliato e avesse capito che siamo già nel 2020: dei 10 album trasmessi in questo programma, 6 sono stati pubblicati negli ultimi 3 anni, e diversi addirittura nel 2026.
Poi, però, rovina tutto inserendo 30 minuti di una band di Bristol degli anni '90 che, se eravate a un loro concerto, probabilmente non ricordate nemmeno...
Così vicina eppure così lontana. Da qualche parte sulla Highway 61...
