Today we will make the last stop among The most beautiful villages of Italy in Marche, going to visit the beautiful . Its name seems to derive from the Greek word "Ophis" (snake) and its cult with therapeutic purposes, as the priests used a golden snake to heal the wounds of patients. The territory is a broad expression of history, art, tradition and folklore. In the magnificent city center you can breathe an air of ancient cultures that have inhabited it, while instead going out of the walls, you will find expanses of olive trees and vineyards that envelop the village like a warm embrace.

Today we are going to visit another beautiful village: Grottammare. In 1248 it became part of the possessions of the city of Fermo, including the port and the fortress. But only in 1525, due to the raids and the occupation of the town by the pirates, it was decided to fortify it with walls all around, doors and a tower called "of the battle". Over the centuries, its port became an important commercial hub, giving prestige and fortune to the inhabitants, until the Napoleonic defeat in 1815, after which it entered into crisis and marginalized. Also worth mentioning is Garibaldi's visit to Grottammare in 1848-49.

Today we are going to visit Montefiore dell'Aso, a small village that owes its name to the cult of the Goddess Flora in pre-Roman times. This was also a point of inspiration for three famous painters: Adoldo de Carolis (born here), Domenico Cantatore and Carlo Crivelli who found in the yellow and brown autumn of the surrounding hills, in the white and blue of the mountains in the distance and in the green of the sea on the horizon, the ideal place to make their brushstrokes immortal.

Today we are approaching the coasts of the Marche to visit Torre di Palme, a splendid village that is said to take its name from an ancient wine produced by the Piceni. Its origins are very ancient as evidenced by Paleolithic settlements. During the twelfth century the fortification of the village began with a proud castle equipped with a solid defensive system that made it difficult to conquer. Also for this reason, it managed to remain an autonomous municipality until 1877, bravely competing over the centuries with the dominance of Fermo.

We continue our tour of "The most beautiful villages of Italy in Marche", this time to discover . The first evidence of this village and its castle dates back to 1083. A legend tells that at the time of the Moors' raids along the Adriatic coast, a group of these went a little further inland to build a stronghold in the heart of Christianity . After becoming part of the municipality of Fermo for several centuries, it became an autonomous commune only in 1910.

Today we visit , which developed from what was an ancient crossroads between the cities of Ascoli Piceno and Fermo. This village had its maximum architectural and cultural splendor during the Napoleonic rule in the area, with the construction of the three most significant monuments: the Three Arches, the Civic Tower and the Teatro dell'Iride. Since 2007, Petritoli has also received the title of "town of weddings" for having distinguished itself as a favorite place for many foreign couples to celebrate the most important day of their lives here.

Today we visit Servigliano. The name derives from a Roman villa (Servilius) which was located 4 km in a higher position around which the village grew, then destroyed by a landslide in 1771 which led to the disappearance of the town. Subsequently Pope Clement XIV had it rebuilt in its current position. This time, however, was built following the city canons of the eighteenth century, moving away from the urban structures of the other medieval towns in the area. Very popular here has become the musical event "No Sound Fest" organized by the municipality which in recent years has attracted thousands of people and famous artists from all over the world.

Today it is the turn of San Ginesio, also on the list of the "most beautiful villages in Italy". The name of the city is linked to the patron, Lucio Ginesio, a Roman martyr, who was an actor, musician and mime. He lived under the emperor Diocletian (284-305) who had him beheaded for having converted to the new Christian faith. During its history, San Ginesio often had disagreements with the nearby city of Fermo which also led to battles. The one that has remained most impressed in the stories handed down concerns the surprise attack of Fermo on the night of November 30, 1377, thwarted by the patriotism of a small baker and then immortalized in a beautiful altarpiece still exposed to the public today.

Today we visit , a village with a recent troubled past due to the strong earthquake of 2016 that destroyed or made a large part of the historic center unusable. But the territory here is a small corner of paradise with clean air, enchanting views and numerous active tourist activities. This is a strategic point to set out to discover ancient paths immersed in lush nature, ideal for reaching the ski resorts of Frontignano or the nearby plain of Castelluccio di Norcia. In Visso you can also find the flavors handed down over time from cured meats, cheeses, lentils, truffles and, last but not least, the delicious trout from the crystalline waters of the Nera river.

Today we visit , a village with a history of freedom and independence from the local feudal lord. In fact, Sarnano was declared "Free Municipality" by Cardinal Paltinieri in 1265. Since then and for over seven centuries it has been protected by the love of its inhabitants. This is a destination with many facets: a fascinating historical, artistic and cultural heritage, mountains to be experienced in every season, thermal waters to regenerate the body and spirit and a gastronomic tradition that delights the palate.

Today we visit , one of the "most beautiful villages in Italy", located in the western part of the Marche between the Apennines. Here we find finds of communities that reach the Paleolithic but the first official source dates back to 1015 about the foundation of the monastery of Sant'Angelo. This village experienced a long period of peace but in 1443 it was conquered by Francesco Sforza who also completely destroyed the monastery and its famous library. The history of Esanatoglia has always been characterized by a considerable production capacity which has reached the present day with the birth of a considerable number of small industrial businesses.
