Patricia Pulles was born in the south of the Netherlands. At the age of 18 she started studying art history at the University of Utrecht where she graduated six years later in “Art History and Archeology”.
After her studies she worked for four years as an assistant-curator for the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. In 1999 she was one of the curators of a big exhibition in public space in Utrecht, called “Panorama 2000”. Next she was assistant to the director and to the senior curator of modern and contemporary art in the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam. In 2004 she was appointed a curator herself in the museum. In 2007 she was asked to join the team of the renowned “Sonsbeek exhibition” which takes place every seven years in the Sonsbeek Park in Arnhem, Netherlands.
In 2008 she decided to leave for Naples to start her own so-called residency project for artists, named “Il Ventre di Napoli”. The title refers to the book of Matilde Serao written in 1884 in which she describes the socio-economic circumstances, the traditions and customs of the heart of Naples. With financial support of the Dutch Government for Culture, the Dutch embassy in Rome and the city of Naples she was able to invite artists to come and stay in Naples to study and give their vision on the city by producing new art works, which resulted in films, books, soundworks, exhibitions.
Convinced that in Naples public space is the most interesting working space for an artist, in 2010 Patricia set up the Color Project, trying to add some color to public streets, squares and public school buildings.
Patricia has collaborated with the Palazzo delle Arti in Naples, the Fondazione Morra, the Villa Pignatelli, the historical Galleria Trisorio and Museum Archeologico Nazionale, the Province and Comune di Napoli. Patricia has contributued as an independant professional curator in all kinds of ways to the contemporary art climate in Naples.
