Galleria Umberto Di Marino The Galleria Umberto Di Marino opened in 1994 in Giugliano. A oggi la galleria vanta una gestione interamente famigliare.

From the start, it focused on the coexistence between artistic language and troubled suburbs like those of Naples. The aim of this first experiment was to create a place that garnered interest and participation, firstly for the gallery’s circle of contacts and then for the entire community. Over the years, Galleria Umberto Di Marino has put greater emphasis on its spirit of research, directing its

interest towards an analysis of the relationship between architecture, nature, anthropology and alternative lifestyles. To date, the gallery is proud of being managed exclusively by family members.

La Galleria Umberto Di Marino inizia la sua attività nel 1994 a Giugliano, concentrando da subito la propria attenzione sulla coesistenza tra il linguaggio artistico e una periferia difficile come quella napoletana. L’obiettivo di questa prima esperienza è dare vita a un luogo di interesse e di partecipazione, prima per la propria cerchia di contatti e successivamente per l’intera comunità. La sua programmazione prevede la regolare alternanza di mostre di giovani artisti italiani e internazionali. Nel corso degli anni, la Galleria Umberto Di Marino ha rafforzato il proprio spirito di ricerca, indirizzando il suo interesse verso un’analisi del rapporto tra architettura, natura, antropologia e stili di vita alternativi. Uno sguardo attento al territorio e il supporto delle istituzioni ha permesso la realizzazione di numerose mostre off-site in luoghi storici della città di Napoli.

As part of Guendalina Malatesta, Guendalina Cerruti’s first solo exhibition, we are pleased to present the artwork: A Circle within a Square, 2026, mannequin, red cotton shirt, jeans, concrete, red marker, metal mesh, brass, tin, lacquer paint, 123 x 58 x 38 cm

Metal meshes, golden threads, and hundreds of butterflies recur insistently according to a logic that borders on obsession, yet is rooted in a slow and disciplined practice. The creative gesture takes on the contours of a manual and patient craft, close to an artisanal dimension in which repetition becomes both method and measure. Within this process, the DIY aesthetic emerges as a form of resistance: a resistance of the sensible against hyper-rationality and standardization, as a practice of redistributing value.

On 30 May, the group exhibition Show d’Houdini, curated by Marion Vasseur Rauly at La Grange, Marolles-en-Hurepoix, CAC Brétigny, came to a close. The exhibition featured works by Guendalina Cerruti, who also conceived and designed the entire exhibition display.

We are delighted to introduce a new chapter of Love in the Paleolithic, the current solo project by Isadora Neves Marques at Casa Di Marino. The artist is currently shooting and developing a new film/installation in the remote Côa Valley, in the north of Portugal, engaging with the same prehistoric engravings depicted in the paintings presented within the gallery’s domestic spaces. This new production by Foi Bonita a Festa is realized with the support of our gallery. More news soon 🌷

Some technical information: Starting today, 1 June 2026, the gallery will follow its new summer schedule. The gallery is open Monday to Friday, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. On Saturdays, visits are available by appointment only.

Please note that tomorrow the gallery will be closed in observance of Italian Republic Day 🌷

On the special occasion of 2026, the gallery will also be open today until 1 PM. Come and discover Isadora Neves Marques’ project “Love in the Paleolithic” at Casa Di Marino.

What follows is a text written by the artist:
Some years ago, I found out that one of the oldest-known s*xual representations in art history is in my home country. Found in the remote Côa valley in the north of Portugal, at the border with Spain, among rock drawings of horses and other animals, there is a Paleolithic image of a man having s*x with a bull. It is very rare to see representations of human figures in the Paleolithic, much less in a s*x scene. I visited the drawing last year, at night under a full moon, with the help of an archaeologist. We had to walk across high grass along a stream, the water rippling melancholically in our ears, avoi- ding tics that tried to jump on us. The moon shone so bright that we could see the valley with naked eyes. Past some low hanging trees, the archaeologist pointed his flashlight at a boulder, and there it was: a large bull, perfectly drawn in a realistic style, and on top of it the drawing of man, mouth open, enormous phallus, with an expressive, straightforward line for the ej*******on and several wavy line over his head, which the archaeologist interpreted as or**sm or the man’s spirit leaving the body. The rock drawing might be dated to 35.000 years ago, but I think we all know that feeling, right?

For the occasion, the artist presents a new series of sculptural, environmental, and wall-based works developed around a precise tension: that between creative potential and constraint, between an imagination spiraling vertiginously inward upon itself and a reality that seeks to compress it. Metal meshes, golden threads, and hundreds of butterflies recur insistently according to a logic that borders on obsession, yet is rooted in a slow and disciplined practice.

On the occasion of 2026, we are delighted to present two new projects. In the gallery spaces, we are opening the first solo exhibition in Naples by , Guendalina Malatesta. In the domestic setting of Casa Di Marino, you will find ’s solo exhibition, Love in the Paleolithic, featuring a selection of new paintings.

We are open today until 7 pm; tomorrow, the official opening day, from 11 am to 7 pm; and on Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.

We are delighted to announce an exciting new project. On Saturday, 23 May 2026, from 11 am to 7 pm, we will also inaugurate Love in the Paleolithic, the first solo exhibition entirely conceived and developed within the spaces of Casa Di Marino.

The exhibition marks the beginning of a new chapter in the gallery’s program, activating the domestic dimension as a site of experimentation and research, where solo projects and new productions by represented and invited artists will alternate.

Isadora Neves Marques (Lisbon, 1984) is a filmmaker, artist, and writer whose work explores intimacy, ecology, technology, gender, and s*xuality through speculative narratives and science fiction. She represented Portugal at the 59th Venice Biennale (2022) and has exhibited internationally at institutions including Palais de Tokyo, Tate Film, Castello di Rivoli, SculptureCenter, and Pérez Art Museum Miami. Collaborating with Galleria Umberto Di Marino since 2010, she has presented four solo exhibitions and numerous special projects and screenings at major international film festivals, including Cannes, TIFF, and NYFF.

We are delighted to announce our upcoming exhibition at the gallery. On Saturday, 23 May 2026, from 11 am to 7 pm, we will open Guendalina malatesta, the first solo exhibition in Naples by Guendalina Cerruti.

On the occasion of the Napoli Gallery Weekend, the exhibition will also be open to the public on Friday, 22 May, from 11 am to 7 pm, and on Sunday, 24 May, from 10 am to 1 pm

Challenging dominant conceptions of artistic value, Cerruti’s works embody a playful, DIY aesthetic, transforming decoration from a superfluous gesture into an expression of resilience. Her practice reflects on the relationship between objects and the hand, drawing from pre-industrial production, childhood imagination, and forms of female labour. Inspired by Susan Stewart’s definition of the miniature as an “exaggeration of interiority,” the artist conceives her works as emblems of the self — a life within life. Drawing from youthful aesthetics and the spirit of adolescence, Cerruti’s sculptures channel a desire for emancipation and self-expression, subverting contemporary tendencies toward cultural and intellectual conformity. Through an exploration of youth and popular culture, her work examines the tension between alienation and belonging, where fragility, intimacy, and emotional turbulence become central elements of her visual language.
