This evening join acclaimed artist María Magdalena Campos-Pons for an insider’s perspective on the 2026 Venice Biennale and her participation in its 61st International Art Exhibition! Thanks to Save Venice, Campos-Pons will share a richly illustrated presentation, insights into her artistic practice and the ideas, inspirations, and creative process behind her work in Venice which will include information about her collaboration with Berengo Studio to create the centrepiece for her installation in handcrafted red glass.

Presented by María Magdalena Campos-Pons, The Cornelius Vanderbilt Endowed Chair Professor of Fine Arts, Vanderbilt University; MacArthur Fellow 2023; and Member of the American Academy of Arts and Science.

It’s all about firsts.

Andreas Schmitten’s multidisciplinary practice spans drawing, sculpture and installation, incorporating strategies of display and attraction drawn from religion, theatre and the world of commodities. He addresses questions concerning human beings, their history, the seemingly mundane, functional objects they create and the cultural structures that result from their actions.

For Glasstress, this practice extends into a new material for the first time. Developed for Berengo Studio, Glassculpture (2026) marks ’s first exploration in glass – a body shaped in cast glass, taking on ever-changing forms.

Today we’re taking a moment to go back behind the scenes to when we had the pleasure of working with Chinese artist Sun Yitian. This talented young painter first encountered Berengo Studio when we took a workshop to Tsinghua University last year. The encounter inspired her curiosity and soon we were working on a collaboration together.

🚨Leiko Ikemura - TransLucent. La forma della luce is now open! 🚨

Berengo Studio are honoured to have once again collaborated with Leiko Ikemura to create several sculptures in cast and blown glass for her new solo show at the Gallerie dell'Accademia . The exhibition brings together the best of the artist’s work in glass and positions it in dialogue with the great masters from the gallery. Make sure to visit the exhibition and experience these luminous sculptures yourself if you’re in Venice this autumn.

We’re counting down the days till the opening of Leiko Ikemura’s exhibition “TransLucent — La forma della luce” at the Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia! While we can’t wait to reveal what we’ve been working on, we thought we’d take a moment to remember one of our original collaborations with the artist for Building Gallery that we worked on during 2020 and which showed in Milan at the exhibition “Leiko Ikemura. Before Thunder, After Dark” back in 2021.

The exhibition was Ikemura’s first solo show in Italy and presented a range of artworks from the artist’s archive as well as specially made pieces, like this sculpture in glass which was made for the occasion. Ikemura’s relationship with glass as a material has developed extensively over the last five years, so much so that her new exhibition Gallerie dell'Accademia focuses exclusively on her sculptures in glass. What a wonderful opportunity to see her art dialogue with the great Italian masters in Venice.

A shoal of handcrafted glass fish hover suspended in the air, caught in a grand spiraling orbit.

Opening tomorrow at Contour Biennale, Laure Prouvost presents ‘Mère We Sea’, a monumental, site-responsive installation that transforms the interior of the chapel of De Noker, in Mechelen, Belgium.

The large-scale installation, pictured here when it debuted at the Chapelle de la Vielle Charité in Marseille, France is titled “Mère We Sea” a play on the French words for mother and sea, connecting maternal lineages with oceanic ecologies. Berengo Studio are honoured to have helped handcraft each individual fish that found its way into this very special shoal.

If you’re able to stop by and visit the installation in person, don’t miss it.

A note to all our followers that Glasstress at Ca’ Tron will be closed to the public tomorrow Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd September, and on the morning of Friday 4th September, for a private event. The exhibition will reopen on Friday afternoon and resume its normal opening hours.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you will take the opportunity to visit Glasstress in Murano at the Fondazione Berengo Art Space from Thursday the 3rd of September, or the exhibitions currently running at Palazzo Franchetti.

Happy Birthday to Ai Weiwei! Artist, activist, and fearless creative force. At Berengo Studio, we are proud to have collaborated with Ai Weiwei on some of his most powerful explorations in glass. From the haunting beauty of “La Commedia Umana”, a 9 metre high hanging glass sculpture of 4000kg of Murano glass confronting themes of life, death, and humanity, to the poetic fragility of his glass handcuffs and surveillance cameras, Ai continues to push the material to new conceptual limits.

His work reminds us that even the most delicate medium can carry the heaviest truths. Today we celebrate not only his birthday, but his unwavering voice and enduring impact on the world of art.

Buon compleanno, – and thank you for turning glass into a language of resistance.

You can currently see La Commedia Umana on display in England, Manchester, at Factory International as part of the artist’s exhibition ‘Button Up!’ which runs till the 6th of September 2026. Here you can see the team putting together the very first prototype for the piece, and if you stick around till the end of the video you can see the artist’s reaction when he finally got to see it in person.
