What remains after an exhibition closes?

A room returns to silence, but the images continue to speak.

Jeff Corwin’s Violence Illustrated occupied the hall at EM Studio Gallery as a space of tension, reflection, and confrontation. Now, after the exhibition, what stays with us is not only the memory of the works on the wall, but the questions they leave behind.

What do we choose to look at?
What do we choose to normalize?
And when does an image become impossible to read as neutral?

Moments from Thresholds of Being at EM Studio Gallery, Amsterdam.

The exhibition brought together works moving through women figures, portraits, watery and dreamlike atmospheres, body, memory, vulnerability and transformation.

Across the space, images appeared as thresholds — places where inner landscapes, embodied memory and states of becoming began to surface.

Thank you to all participating artists, visitors, collectors, curators and friends who joined us in Amsterdam and became part of this dialogue.

Jeff Corwin’s Violence Illustrated was presented by Kuun Art at EM Studio Gallery in Amsterdam from 19 to 25 June 2026.

The exhibition brought Corwin’s photographic series into a focused European context, where image, object, and symbol came together to question the visual language of violence.

Through minimalist composition, intense color, and graphic precision, Violence Illustrated reflected on how images shape collective memory, fear, and political consciousness.

The collective exhibition brings together artists whose works move through women figures, portraits, watery and dreamlike atmospheres, body, memory, vulnerability and transformation.

The exhibition approaches the image as a threshold — a place where inner landscapes, embodied memory and states of becoming begin to surface.

The icon is not neutral.

Kuun Art is pleased to announce Violence Illustrated, a solo exhibition by American artist Jeff Corwin, opening at EM Studio Gallery, Amsterdam.

Marking the European debut presentation of the series, Violence Illustrated examines the visual language surrounding American gun culture — not as spectacle, but as a system of images, symbols, rituals and inherited narratives.

Through round frames, convex glass, altered photography, layered illustration, typography and three-dimensional icons, Corwin transforms the photographic image into a constructed object: part archive, part relic, part confrontation.

The exhibition asks how violence is framed, aestheticized, normalized and absorbed into collective memory — and what remains when power, fear, belief and national identity become image.
