Working on a very special project this season, I’ve decided to take time away from in the capacity I would normally participate, but I was in the studio and wanted to take a moment to reflect on past seasons’ work.
Fashion weeks (the entire month, rather), gave me one of my first opportunities of fashion storytelling behind the camera in such a massive way. When I first started, I didn’t have many peers to look to who were shooting, what is largely popular now, celebrity career documentation, so instead of grabbing inspiration + references from social media archives, it really forced me to do what every filmmaker, photojournalist, storyteller should do— just follow the story. That gave me a new obsession outside of shooting high fashion and editorial in-studio, and I became obsessed with it. And boy, did I gain buukuuuu headaches on the ride up!!! 😭😅🙃
All that to say, be it New York, London, Milan, or Paris Fashion Week…I’ll never stop loving the blessing of documenting a client’s journey in stardom in this most desired industry. As creatives behind the scenes, we are the 1% of the world, and I’ll forever be grateful to be included as one of the chosen.
God is so amazing, and in the meantime, while I’m documenting the journeys of those on the opposite side of the spectrum, through incarceration, I’ll continue to honor every moment I am called to pick up the camera and tell story through my vision.
