Res Ethica

Res Ethica Associazione studentesca dell'Università Bocconi.

Contattaci all'indirizzo email [email protected]

1️⃣ Anthropic’s Mythos AI could transform cybersecurity by accelerating vulnerability discovery and defense, but it also raises serious geopolitical risks. Restricted access may concentrate cyber power among a few states and corporations, while future proliferation could lower barriers for offensive cyber operations worldwide.

2️⃣ The parents of Maya Gebala, a 12-year-old girl critically injured in the Tumbler Ridge school shooting, sued OpenAI in U.S. federal court. They allege ChatGPT helped amplify the attacker’s violent planning and that OpenAI failed to alert police despite warning signs.

3️⃣ Ukraine has accused Israel of importing grain allegedly stolen by Russia from occupied Ukrainian territories. The purchase remains disputed, as while Israel says Kyiv has not provided conclusive legal proof, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported extensively on it.

4️⃣ An attempted attack on Donald Trump and his cabinet on Sunday showed, more than weak security, how little Americans care about the sitting President, even to the extent of mass belief in conspiracy theories.

5️⃣ Recent attacks in Mali show a serious escalation of the country’s security crisis. Coordinated assaults by jihadist and Tuareg rebel groups struck several major cities, damaging the military junta that took power after a coup in 2021.

6️⃣ Even if symbolically important, administrative elections in the West Bank and Gaza show deep political fragmentation, with (unsurprisingly) low turnouts, the exclusion of Hamas, and Israeli restrictions. Nonetheless, independent and Farah candidates won the public favour.

7️⃣ The United Arab Emirates’ exit from OPEC will weaken the cartel’s unity and reduce its control over global oil supply. It may allow the UAE to increase production more freely, putting downward pressure on prices, while also intensifying rivalry with Saudi Arabia and reshaping Gulf energy politics.

A conversation on borders, dignity, and belonging.

During the event “Human Rights at the Border”, created by and , different voices came together to explore what it truly means to respect human rights, not only in life, but also in death. From the right to a dignified burial to the challenge of ensuring freedom of religion in multicultural contexts, the event reminded us that inclusion is not just a principle, it is a responsibility.

Because no one should remain invisible. Not in life, and not beyond it.

4️⃣ Jet fuel shortages could disrupt flights across Europe within weeks

7️⃣ Humans travel farther than ever from Earth in historic lunar mission.

This week’s headlines reflect a world balancing between crisis and progress.🌎
Tensions in the Middle East continue to shape global stability, but renewed ceasefire talks offer a glimpse of hope. At the same time, the economic impact of conflict is becoming increasingly visible: markets react, energy supplies tighten, and institutions warn of potential global slowdown.

Energy remains at the center of the conversation. From possible fuel shortages affecting travel to calls for reduced consumption, the consequences of geopolitical instability are reaching everyday life. Meanwhile, climate action is gaining renewed urgency, with a coalition of countries pushing for faster transition away from fossil fuels.⚡

Despite these challenges, innovation and exploration continue to move forward. The Artemis II mission marks a historic step in human space exploration, reminding us of what global collaboration can achieve.🔭
