For the third edition of Domenica Nascosta, our open-air party bringing together a vinyl market, a handcrafted sound system and DJs from the local and international scenes, we had Meriem S behind the decks.
Born in Tunisia, raised in Italy and now based in Berlin, Meriem has built a name for herself through a sound that refuses easy definitions. A and .berlin resident and co-founder of , she has played across Italy and internationally, from intimate grassroots parties to stages such as .
Her musical journey started with Roots & Beats, her own show on Refuge Worldwide, where disco, global sounds and a deep curiosity for music came together. Since then, that same curiosity has continued to shape her path moving freely between sounds, scenes and places, without ever feeling the need to fit into one particular box.
But what really stood out in our conversation was not only her musical journey, but the way she thinks about it. Even after everything she has achieved, Meriem still questions herself: whether to adapt her sound to what a crowd expects from her, or whether she should simply trust her own instincts.
And maybe that’s exactly what makes her so compelling. A DJ with a strong identity who is still curious enough to question it.
We sat down with Meriem to talk about all of this her roots, her journey, the music that shaped her and what it means to stay true to yourself while continuing to evolve.
