Ricasoli Recitals is a classical recital series, held in a salon setting across from the Castello Sforzesco in Milan. The series promotes international musicians in a wonderfully intimate setting, with the lights of the Castello, and a wine bar, as a backdrop to evenings of chamber music from music spanning five centuries. The series is cofounded by Elizabeth Herzberg and Rachel Fenlon.

After quite a few years, Ricasoli Recitals opened its doors once again for a special evening of American music with duo Elizabeth Hertzberg and Simonetta Heger. Our classical music salon in the heart of Milan was happy to be back! Special thanks to such an enthusiastic audience, to Edoardo Canetta and 📸 Federico Bontempi.

This evening’s music comes to you from Milan. Sara Mescia, clarinet, shares with us “Hommage à Manuel De Falla” by Béla Kovács. The Hungarian clarinetist, Kovács, composed a set of concert etudes for clarinet called “Hommages”, written in the style of numerous different composers. We hope you enjoy his tribute to De Falla! Thanks, Sara!

Here is the first movement (Lapta) from the Suite Chypre by Kemal Belevi from Cyprus. David & Cornelia were with us at Ricasoli around this time last year for a beautiful and memorable evening!

Today’s music comes to you from Milan! Eliana Grasso, pianist, shares with us Schubert-Liszt’s “Gretchen am Spinnrade”. Liszt made piano transcriptions of over fifty Schubert lieder. Here is one of his most famous! Grazie, Eliana!

Milan is in its fourth week of quarantine and our Ricasoli Recitals 2020 season was supposed to start tomorrow!

Since you can’t come here for music, we’ve decided to bring music to you. We’ve asked our artists from the current season, as well as past seasons, to send in videos they’ve made at home so we can bring a little Ricasoli Recitals into your homes.

Our virtual season starts tomorrow!! Thanks to all our dear musicians for their enthusiastic collaboration!
