MILAN, 6 APRIL 2020 – Creative design freed from the physical space of the production studio: this is the new project by the BAFTA nominated Italian creator and entrepreneur Massimo Guarini, veteran of Ubisoft, Grasshopper Manufacture and founder of Ovosonico (Murasaki Baby, Last Day of June).
Guarini Design is the first Italian example of a concept house – a company which creates new intellectual properties, manages its licensing rights and provides creative direction, but is set up as outsourcing, thereby involving various external actors in the creation of the final project. By doing so, the concept house presents the opportunity to the game industry to work on complex projects with a business network – publishers, development studios, writers, creators, musicians – that offers collaboration in production.
This is an already established model in the movie industry, inspired by Hollywood and experimented with in gaming by some internationally renowned designers (Fumito Ueda, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Yoko Taro).
“I am convinced that this is the future of the game industry,” says Massimo Guarini, CEO and Creative Director of Guarini Design.
“Designing without the burden of structures; like an architect who designs and supervises, but then hands off the project to the construction company. The concept house is a lean operation, a company dedicated to the output of ideas for video games, films and TV series, that partners with major international production and development studios.”
