Join us in Volterra tomorrow for a journey in spoken word and song!

Wednesday July 30 at 21:30
FESTIVAL INTERNAZIONALE
DEL TEATRO ROMANO DI VOLTERRA

Little Flowers is a song cycle and recital by Anglo-Italian singer-songwriter, actor, and director Daniel Zappi. Performed in both Italian and English, it celebrates the life and legacy of St. Francis of Assisi through a rich blend of original music, acting, and spoken word. The piece draws inspiration from The Little Flowers of St. Francis — a 14th-century collection of stories and anecdotes about the saint and his early community.

The performance is brought to life by Daniel Zappi himself, alongside acclaimed British actor, director, and award-winning author Justin Butcher, and celebrated British singer and actress Francesca Power.

It’s official, after 75 days walking and sometimes cycling the 1820 kms from the Great St Bernard Pass in the Italian Alps Julia, in the company of friends, has arrived at her final destination of Santa Maria de Leuca at the very southern tip of Puglia.

From our Producer, Julia Holden

“A huge thanks to all my friends and supporters, to all those who have walked with me or offered encouragement from home and of course to everyone who has donated to our chosen charities, the London based Arcola Mental Health Community Company and the Florence based Charity for Mental Health ‘Nuova Aurora’.

Julia has undertaken this walk to promote positive mental health through theatre practice. Learn more and donate here:

An update from Julia in Puglia!

“Dear friends and colleagues, After 3 months of walking and (sometimes cycling) I am very happy and proud to announce that I’m on the last leg of my charity trek across Italy.

A huge thanks to the many friends and acquaintances who have cheered me on or walked or cycled with me. I have now completed over 1400 km (!) of the ancient and inspiring pilgrimage route known as the ‘Via Francigena’ Just 250km to go!

The intention of this epic and ambitious initiative (entitled ‘Moving Drama’) is to raise funds for charities who promote positive mental health through theatre practice.

My chosen charity is the London based Arcola Mental Health Company - a branch of the Arcola Theatre who run regular workshops and put on productions supporting mental health wellbeing.

I believe theatre helps lift people - even temporarily - out of a dark place to a better, more positive, state of mind. Being active and creative helps the soul!

If you have not already sponsored me, this is your last chance to make a small (or even a large) donation!

You can learn more about my journey AND donate here:

https://jproductionsmilan.com/the-journey/

Thank you hugely for your support.”
