Yesterday was Fronleichnam, Corpus Christi, not a public holiday everywhere but celebrated in German states with a high percentage of Catholics. Like the 26 Sorbian communities in the eastern state of Saxony, where the majority of local businesses and schools were closed.

And many women and young girls wore "die traditionelle Sorbische Festtracht", the traditional Sorbian festival costume that differs slightly village to village.

"Ein Höhepunkt im katholischen Kirchenjahr", a highlight in the Catholic church year, honouring the Eucharist, Holy Communion, a celebration of the last meal Jesus shared with his disciples, it is held on the second Thursday after Pentecost. Sixty days after Easter Sunday.
