I am glad to announce that our project was selected among the top 100 selected projects

The main concept behind this school design is to develop a flexible, adaptable, and expandable prototype that can be implemented in various locations within the region.

The design incorporates the use of sustainable local materials that are readily available in the area and familiar to the Senegalese people. A key architectural feature is a monolithic rammed earth wall that encompasses the entire school, providing stability, security, and a distinct appearance.

The Wound

A memorial designed to commemorate the victims of port blast on the 4th of august and resemble a new hope for the city and its people.

The Wound is located right in the location of the blast. A V triangle sharp shape painted in red floats above the water like an actual wound. A promenade of long staircases takes you down to the heart of the tragedy, concrete floor and gun metal finished walls along with a time line on the entrance wall illustrating the catastrophic events that hit this country throughout the past 30 years.
At the end of this path, a sudden change in direction re orients the visitor. With Backlit cutout of the names on the memorial walls include all the names of the victims (the documented ones). A slit of light demonstrates the hope that we all still have even during the worst time this country is passing through. Going up and out from the "Wound", one will start showering again with natural light as a symbol of hope, while the Silos that protected beirut will appear in a standing strong manner, resembling the resistance of the lebanese. While on the port level, the memorial hosts a public space for people to spend some time next to this "no go zone", that we were always deprived from reaching.
