Located in Fasano, in the heart of the Apulian countryside, this project originates from the presence of an existing ruin surrounded by centuries-old olive trees.
The design approach focused on enhancing and reinterpreting the existing structure, preserving its identity while introducing a contemporary architectural language. The core of the intervention is the new main entrance, conceived as a transitional space between two volumes, both enclosed by traditional dry stone walls that establish a strong connection with the rural landscape.
The spatial sequence continues towards the rear, where the architecture opens up to the outdoors. A continuous earth-toned resin flooring extends the living space and leads to an infinity pool overlooking the Apulian countryside, creating a seamless relationship between built and natural environment.
Material selection follows a clear principle of contextual coherence and sustainability:
plaster, dry stone, and resin are combined with all reusable elements from the existing ruin, establishing a balance between memory and contemporary design.
Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, this project aims to emerge from it and enhance its essence.
