One of the greatest masterpieces of the medieval world is coming to Britain.

From 10 September 2026 to 11 July 2027, the Bayeux Tapestry will be on display at the British Museum, its first visit to England in almost 1,000 years.

Stretching nearly 70 metres, this extraordinary embroidery recounts the events leading to the Battle of Hastings in 1066, the Norman Conquest, and a turning point that forever changed the course of English history.

Far more than a historical record, the Bayeux Tapestry is a masterpiece of medieval storytelling, where every stitched scene reveals castles, ships, warriors, and everyday life with astonishing detail.
