Gessi di Vini 2026 was brilliant.

It felt busier than ever, but everything was so well organised. Great entertainment, brilliant food, plenty of wine and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the village.

It's lovely to see Gessopalena's festa getting bigger while still keeping that real village feel.

We had such a good night.

Already looking forward to Gessi di Vini 2027.

You never quite know what you're going to find at a village festa in Abruzzo.

We were at the Gessi Di vini wine festival when these trampolieri appeared, towering above everyone and making their way through the crowd.

Village festivals here can be such a mix of food, wine, music, traditions and completely unexpected moments.

And this is exactly the sort of thing you don't get from a postcard of Italy.

One of those completely ordinary moments in the mountains that doesn't feel ordinary at all.

These cows were making their way home across the Gran Sasso, with the valley and mountains stretching out behind them.

This is one of the things I love about Abruzzo.. spectacular scenery, but still very much a place where everyday rural life is happening right in the middle of it.

The jewel in the crown of Gessopalena's festivals is back...
It's the 8th edition of our wonderful wine festival, and if you've never been, tonight is the perfect opportunity to discover what makes it such a special part of summer in Gessopalena.
The old town comes alive with local wine, food, music and plenty of atmosphere, with people coming together to enjoy an evening in the village.
It's one of those nights when Gessopalena really shows its character.. local traditions, good food, good wine and a wonderful community atmosphere.
If you're in Abruzzo, come along and enjoy it for yourself.

📍Lago Capo d'Acqua, Abruzzo
This beautiful lake near Capestrano has a secret beneath the surface.

The lake was created from an old water source that flooded the valley, leaving the remains of an abandoned village beneath the crystal-clear water.

When conditions are right, you can see the submerged ruins and even the remains of old structures beneath the surface.

It's one of those places in Abruzzo that feels almost unreal — beautiful above the water, but with an entire piece of history hidden underneath it.

High up in the Gran Sasso mountains where the roads wind through vast open landscapes and everything suddenly feels very far away. No crowds. No noise. Just mountains, sky and a view that makes vou want to stop for a while.
One of the things we love most about
Abruzzo is that places like this are part of everyday life here.

📍Cappella di San Vincenzo Ferrer, Pizzoli, Abruzzo
Tucked away at around 1,455 metres in the Gran Sasso National Park, this tiny mountain chapel is dedicated to San Vincenzo Ferrer.
It's a simple little building surrounded by an extraordinary landscape, and its remote setting gives you a real sense of the connection between these mountains, the people who lived here and the shepherding traditions of the area.
You could easily drive or walk through the mountains without ever knowing this little chapel was here.

Made from scratch at home in Abruzzo, using just flour, water, yeast and salt.

There's something very satisfying about turning a few simple ingredients into a proper loaf of bread, especially when the kitchen smells this good.

Crispy crust, soft inside and definitely worth the effort.
