L'album della colonna sonora raggiunge la posizione numero 1 nella classifica Billboard Disco Top 100. Il primato viene conquistato grazie a "Fame”, indimenticabile title-track interpretata da Irene Cara, "Hot Lunch Jam”, sempre cantata dalla Cara, che trasforma una caotica pausa pranzo scolastica in pura energia funky e “Red Light”, un travolgente pezzo disco interpretata invece dalla magnifica voce di Linda Clifford.

On August 30, 1980, the “Fame” soundtrack achieved a memorable milestone. Alan Parker's movie not only filled theaters but officially dominated the disco charts. The soundtrack album reached #1 on the Billboard Disco Top 100. This success was achieved thanks to "Fame," the unforgettable title track performed by Irene Cara; "Hot Lunch Jam," also sung by Cara, which transformed a chaotic school lunch break into pure funky energy; and "Red Light," a rousing disco number performed by the magnificent voice of Linda Clifford.

Nel cuore pulsante di Manhattan, tra un magazzino dismesso e i resti di un quartiere industriale, al numero 84 di King Street, sorse negli anni Settanta un luogo che non era solo un club, ma un santuario: il Paradise Garage. […] Alla guida della liturgia sonora c’era Larry Levan, dj, alchimista, sciamano. Il suo set era un romanzo emotivo, una sequenza di picchi, abissi e resurrezioni: alternava gospel e soul, dub giamaicano e rock di frontiera, disco e elettronica suburbana. Per lui un brano non era solo qualcosa con cui far ballare, era una preghiera in quattro quarti, una confessione in re minore, un grido di libertà filtrato da un basso che faceva tremare lo stomaco.

In the beating heart of Manhattan, between an abandoned warehouse and the remains of an industrial neighborhood, at 84 King Street, a place arose in the 1970s that was not just a club, but a sanctuary: the Paradise Garage. […] Leading the sonic liturgy was Larry Levan, DJ, alchemist, and shaman. His set was an emotional novel, a sequence of peaks, valleys, and resurrections: he alternated gospel and soul, Jamaican dub and frontier rock, disco and suburban electronica. For him, a song wasn't just something to dance to, it was a prayer in four-four time, a confession in D minor, a cry for freedom filtered through a stomach-churning bass.

Il 18 agosto 1979, la vetta della classifica National Disco Action di Billboard veniva conquistata da "Here Comes That Sound Again” dei Love De-Luxe. Più che una band tradizionale, il progetto era un supergruppo in studio nato dal produttore e compositore britannico Alan Hawkshaw. Per questo brano, Hawkshaw scelse due voci straordinarie: le cantanti Vicki Brown e Jo-Ann Stone. Il risultato è un concentrato di energia, archi travolgenti e un giro di basso che ha definito un'era.

On August 18, 1979, "Here Comes That Sound Again" by Love De-Luxe topped Billboard's National Disco Action chart. More than a traditional band, the project was a studio supergroup created by British producer and composer Alan Hawkshaw. For this track, Hawkshaw chose two extraordinary voices: singers Vicki Brown and Jo-Ann Stone. The result is a powerhouse of energy, featuring sweeping strings and a bassline that defined an era.

La Morningstar Records, distribuita da Springboard International, ha pubblicato "Please Love Me Again" dei VIP Connection. Questo disco era popolare nei club di New York circa sei mesi fa, ma all'epoca era disponibile solo come importazione. Ora che è disponibile sul mercato nazionale in quantità commerciali, dovrebbe avere successo in molte zone. Il sound ricorda molto quello della Ritchie Family e la canzone è simile al classico inglese "Telstar".

Jackie Moore, a soul-disco singer originally from Florida, reached number one on Billboard’s Disco Top 80 chart on August 11, 1979, with the single “This Time Baby,” a track from the album I’m On My Way (Columbia) written by the songwriting team Bell & James and performed in 1978 by the O’Jays.
A smash hit that lit up dancefloors worldwide and remains a timeless disco classic to this day.

Il 7 agosto 1976 la disco music faceva la storia.
Cinquant'anni fa, la classifica Disco File Top 20 di Record World celebrava il successo planetario di "The Best Disco in Town" delle Ritchie Family che conquistavano la posizione numero 1. Il brano, diventato un manifesto immortale del genere, portò il leggendario trio femminile di Philadelphia sul tetto del mondo.
Nello stesso momento, il loro album "Arabian Nights" conquistava il 4° posto della classifica come “all cuts": un disco perfetto, composto solo da hit e senza alcun brano di riempimento. Un vero capolavoro concepito interamente per la pista da ballo.

Fifty years ago, Record World's Disco File Top 20 chart celebrated the global success of The Ritchie Family's "The Best Disco in Town," which reached #1. The song, which became an immortal manifesto of the genre, took the legendary Philadelphia female trio to the top of the world.
At the same time, their album "Arabian Nights" reached #4 in the "all cuts" category: a perfect album, composed only of hits and without any filler tracks. A true masterpiece conceived entirely for the dance floor.

La Whitfield Records (distribuita dalla Warner Bros.) ha pubblicato il nuovo singolo degli Undisputed Truth “You & Me= Love" su un disco da 12 pollici. La durata è di 11:10. Il brano è stato arrangiato da Paul Riser e prodotto da Norman Whitfield. Si tratta del singolo di debutto di Whitfield con la sua etichetta. Il sound è fortemente influenzato dalla Motown e ricorda molto un pezzo dei Temptations, gruppo che Whitfield ha anche prodotto. Il disco presenta dei bei cambi di ritmo e culmina in un potente break con battiti di mani e assoli di diversi strumenti solisti.

Whitfield Records (distributed by Warner Bros.) has released the new Undisputed Truth You & Me= Love" on a 12-inch disco disk. The time is 11:10. The song was arranged by Paul Riser and produced by Norman Whitfield. This is Whitfield's debut single on his own label. It is very much into the Motown sound, and sounds a lot like a track from the Temptations, a group Whitfield also produced. The record goes through some nice changes, and builds into a strong handclap break with several lead instruments doing solos.
