Sister Rosetta Tharpe bridged gospel, jazz, and blues before the genre had a name, toured with all-white bands, lived openly as q***r, and scored the first gospel single to cross Billboard charts. Female, Black, and unapologetically herself: the undisputed Mother of Rock & Roll.

GRACE doesn’t check your record nor does it care how many times you’ve stumbled into the frame sideways. It has brought us here thus far, and grace will lead us on.

Mother Mary knows a thing or two about grace. Be like Mary.

Anger is not the enemy — it’s the signal.

When injustice rises, so does the temperature. Like RBG robed in the buttons of equality and justice, we are called to feel the heat and question anyway.

ASK WHY…….for the FUTURE.

She wakes before the light fully arrives in Florence, the air still cool, her hands already knowing their duties before her mind catches up. Linen. Bread. Children. The quiet rhythm of a respectable life. Her husband is kind enough, successful enough. Stability, wrapped in silk and expectation.

And yet, there is a restlessness in her.
When she is asked to sit for Leonardo da Vinci, it is not framed as something extraordinary. A portrait. A gesture of status. .. But he sees too much.

We can imagine that the sittings stretch on. Longer than expected. Perhaps longer than proper.

He asks strange questions.
“What do you think happiness is?”
“What do you remember from childhood that you never speak of?”

No one has ever asked her these things. So her smile begins to change.

It is no longer just politeness. It becomes layered. Private. A quiet rebellion even. A secret she keeps even while being observed by the outside world.

Some say that smile is joy.
Some say it is sadness.

But perhaps it is something more dangerous:
a woman who knows there is more to her than the life she was given… and chooses to keep part of herself untouched, unclaimed.

When the painting is finished, she returns to her life. The same rooms. The same routines. The same name.

A woman’s story is always so much more than what she shows the world.

My question to you, what do you think the famous Monalisa smile was portraying ??

On the morning of my 70th birthday, only four years into declaring myself an artist, i walked down 5th Avenue in NYC and looked into the window of the Louis Vuitton store. My heart leapt and I broke into tears of joy. There was my collaboration project celebrating the 200th birthday of Louis Vuitton. I am beyond blessed. Much better artists never have this opportunity yet they spend a lifetime in pursuit.

was invited by to be one of the global visionaries. Pablo Ganguli brought together photographer and me to help bring his vision to life. The piece imagines bodies of different shapes and ethnicities suspended in space, drifting and dancing beyond gravity. They move outward into the universe in sculptural form, symbolizing our shared human journey and the invisible threads that connect us all. The scene becomes a kind of galaxy of dreams, memories, and transformative experiences expanding human consciousness.

For my part, I created the artwork using fragments from my own personal jewelry collection. Hundreds of digital layers come together to form the piece, scattering sparkling stars across a pink sky and centering everything around my luminous blue planet that draws the floating bodies into orbit.

Martha Stewart didn’t arrive as a masterpiece—she revealed herself layer by layer, strength by strength.

Through silence, through setbacks, through seasons when the world tried to define her before she could define herself. She kept peeling back the noise, the expectations and the fear.

What you see now isn’t luck or image—it’s a woman who chose to meet herself, again and again, until she became undeniable.

Do you know a woman like this? Share this with her.

In the quiet morning light, she softens the room. By evening, she feels like a presence—watching, remembering, holding something unspoken.

I created A Decorated Woman to let women be seen in their entirety. Built in layers, each detail carries a part of her story—because she was never just one thing.

Today is Queen Elizabeth’s birthday, so here are 7 facts you probably didn’t know about her that made her more than “just beautiful.”

These are just some of the reasons why I needed to represent her in my series, A Decorated Woman.

1) She joined the military and trained as a mechanic.

During World War II, Princess Elizabeth trained as a mechanic and driver in the Auxiliary Territorial Service—becoming the first female royal family member to serve full-time in the armed forces.

2) She didn’t explain herself, even when the world demanded it.

During intense public criticism, especially after Princess Diana’s death, there was pressure for emotional displays. She stayed measured, spoke when she chose, and never over-corrected to please the crowd.

3) She loved her animals with zero formality.

Her corgis weren’t accessories. They were companions she genuinely adored, even when they misbehaved. Around them, she softened completely.

4) She kept her routine sacred, no matter who was visiting.

World leaders adjusted to her schedule, not the other way around. Tea was tea. Her rhythm didn’t bend for status.

5) She held eye contact and silence like tools.

In meetings with figures like Winston Churchill, she didn’t need to dominate the conversation. A pause, a look, a few precise words. That was enough.

6) She became globally loved without trying to be.

She never reshaped herself to fit the moment or followed the pull of changing times, yet she remained one of the most recognized and deeply respected figures across the world.

7) She publicly danced with a African president Kwame Nkruma in 1961.

When she danced with Kwame Nkrumah, it wasn’t just a social moment. It challenged racial division during a tense time and sent a global message about unity.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAVE, BEAUTIFUL, TALENTED WOMAN. PLANET 9 FOREVER!

From my series, A Decorated Woman, this portrait is collaged together from bits and pieces of jewelry. Hundreds of digital layers illustrate a carefully curated line-up of accomplished, complex, persevering women from wildly disparate backgrounds and time periods. They shattered myths, boundaries, societal norms, and gender roles by conveying their strengths or weaknesses as social commentary.
