Raighes Factory is an independent instrumental record label, music publisher and music library founded in Sardinia in 2010 by musician and producer Roberto Diana. We collaborate with artists and composers worldwide, releasing original music across contemporary piano, acoustic guitar, jazz, ambient, folk and world music. Through Raighes Library, we offer music licensing opportunities for film, television, documentaries, advertising and other creative productions. We also welcome enquiries about original music for new projects. Our work includes boutique recording, mixing and mastering services, alongside curated playlists and independent music discovery. Mauro Caprile wrote A Place to Call Home after finally managing to buy a house of his own.

He spoke about it in our interview, explaining how much that moment meant to him after the sacrifices involved in reaching it.

His home is also where he develops his music, so the composition has a particularly personal connection to his everyday life.

Released in June 2023, A Place to Call Home brings together acoustic guitar and electric slide guitar. The arrangement uses gentle volume swells and reverb alongside Mauro's fingerstyle playing.

It's a piece with a story that many people can relate to, whether or not they play an instrument.

Sardinia has several musical traditions that are often grouped together, although they developed in different communities and social settings.

The launeddas, for example, use three single-reed pipes and a breathing technique that allows the music to continue without interruption.

Canto a tenore is built around four specialised voices, while canto a chitarra follows its own traditions of singing, accompaniment and individual interpretation.

Each has a distinct history, and each continues to be shaped by the people who practise it.

We recently explored these traditions, alongside the work of contemporary Sardinian musicians, in an article for Raighes Factory.

It's a subject particularly close to us, as a record label founded on the island and still connected to its musical life.

Sometimes music begins with something we struggle to put into words.

When Antonio Firinu composed Sensory Overload for his Safir Nou project, he was trying to make sense of a moment in which emotions, thoughts and sensations had become overwhelming.

The result was an instrumental piece where classical guitar, violin and electronics gradually build a more intense musical conversation.

Rather than simply describing those feelings, Antonio found a way to transform them into music.

Released in 2018, Sensory Overload is one of the many recordings in our archives that reflects the adventurous spirit of Sardinia's contemporary music scene.

🎹 Today we're sharing In the Mist, the new single by Collettivo Armonico and Carlo Matti.

Built around soft piano tones and gentle phrasing, the piece unfolds at an unhurried pace. The notes blend into one another, creating a delicate musical atmosphere where every small detail has room to emerge.

A lovely new addition to our instrumental piano catalogue.

Not every Raighes Factory release features newly composed music. Sometimes we have the opportunity to revisit works from the classical repertoire.

In 1956, Swiss-American composer Ernest Bloch wrote Suite Modale for flute and strings, dedicating the work to the celebrated flautist Elaine Schaffer.

For our 2020 release, pianist Carlo Corazza and flautist Irene Pace recorded a version for just two instruments.

Across four movements, Bloch's music moves between reflective passages, modal melodies and lively counterpoint, including the playful dance rhythms of the Allegro giocoso.

It's a recording that brings together two musicians from our catalogue and a remarkable work from the twentieth-century repertoire.

We've spent quite a bit of time lately revisiting the older corners of the Raighes Factory catalogue.

Not just checking release dates, artwork and credits, but rediscovering the stories behind recordings we haven't talked about for years.

Since we started, we've had the pleasure of working with musicians from different countries, backgrounds and musical traditions. Some of those collaborations have stayed with us for a long time, while others belong to particular moments in the label's history.

Going through these recordings again has reminded us just how much music we've shared over the years, and how many interesting things there still are to tell about it.

So, alongside our new releases, we'll be making a little more room for the older ones here.

There's quite a lot to rediscover. 😊

As we prepare for In the Mist on 16 October, we're returning to Glimpses of Yesterday by Collettivo Armonico & Carlo Matti.

Released in July, the piece unfolds through short piano phrases, subtle changes in harmony and moments of silence. Musical fragments appear and fade, like memories that return without revealing every detail.

A quiet chapter in a collaboration that continues to grow.
