◾️𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.
Accessibility doesn’t stop at the stage. It must be embedded in every operational detail, from how we sell tickets, to how staff are trained, to how we respond in emergencies.
Clear signage, inclusive service, and informed response protocols are essential to creating safe, equitable environments for all.
💫 We call for systemic integration of accessibility across all aspects of cultural production and management.

Meet three inspiring Portuguese artists who shared their expertise during the Capacity Building for Inclusion of Theatre Artists workshop, held last September at Teatro São Luiz (Lisbon)!

▪️ 𝗖𝗮́𝘁𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗼: Theatre director, writer, set designer, and performer, co-founder of Estrutura, whose work explores the intersections of theatre, performance, visual arts, and ecological thought;
▪️ 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗡𝗶𝗲𝗽𝗰𝗲: Dancer, choreographer, and writer whose practice redefines the body and performance through hybrid, political, and inclusive approaches;
▪️ 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀: Actor, director, playwright, and producer, with projects presented at major national and international venues, and artistic director of Teatro-Cine de Torres Vedras.

In September, the Capacity Building for Inclusion of Theatre Artists workshop brought together professionals from across Europe to explore accessibility and inclusion in the performing arts.

Meet three of our incredible trainers:
▪️ 𝗔𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻: inclusive Practice Manager at Battersea Arts Centre (UK), working across arts institutions to improve accessibility and equity;
▪️ 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘇𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱𝗼: actress and director (Portugal), known for works such as 𝘚𝘦 𝘯𝘢̃𝘰 𝘦́𝘴 𝘓𝘦́𝘴𝘣𝘪𝘤𝘢, 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘰 𝘦́ 𝘲𝘶𝘦 𝘵𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘴 and 𝘕𝘢𝘶 𝘕𝘢𝘶 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢, exploring gender and identity on stage;

◾️𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆-𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀.
Some audiences experience theatre differently, and that’s ok.�Sensory-friendly performances make small changes with big impact: softer lights, lower sound levels, and the freedom to move or stim during the show.
