What happens when sound turns the familiar into something otherworldly?
Transart in collaboration with Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Bolzano Bozen brings two radical visions of experimental music together at Rothoblaas. Xiu Xiu For Life’s ERASERHEAD XIU XIU plunges into the dark, surreal world of David Lynch’s cult film, transforming it into a visceral audiovisual experience where live sound, light and analogue textures blur the boundaries between dream and reality. matthew herbert’s theukhasmorefoodbanksthanbranchesofmcdonalds.com takes the sounds of everyday items most commonly requested by foodbanks, from canned vegetables to nappies and tampons, and turns them a political statement on social inequality and food poverty in Britain today.
Two very different approaches, united by a desire to push sound beyond its familiar limits.
It is his most explicit musical comment on social inequality and aims to contribute
to raising the issue of increased food poverty in Britain today.
