INSCRIBE - ERC Project

This may be the last message that INSCRIBE ERC Project will post. As you all know, INSCRIBE ended, but the good news is that we have a new project, called SAPIENCE Symbols, Preliteracy and Code Evolution. This project is funded by the Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca as part of its FIS grant program (an ERC-style scheme) to support research in all fields. We have won a very generous grant, which we do not take for granted. SAPIENCE will run from Oct 1st 2025, for three years at the Alma Mater University of Bologna, in the Dipartimento di Filologia Classica e Italianistica. As a team, we will travel across the globe to understand how graphic codes were invented, transmitted, changed, and how they led, or did not lead, to the invention of writing.
