Smarrimento, perdita dei riferimenti. Autechre live è la resa in musica del tema di ROBOT17: perdersi nel suono prima della ricostruzione.

Il 10 ottobre all’Estragon, Rob Brown e Sean Booth portano un flusso di suoni digitali generati in tempo reale, in un live che si svolge nel buio totale e rende impossibile capire da dove arrivino i suoni, dove vadano, cosa succederà dopo.

Dal 1987 Autechre hanno spinto l’elettronica sempre più lontano dai suoi punti di riferimento, arrivando a lavorare con algoritmi procedurali che modellano e controllano in tempo reale. Il risultato è un’esperienza in cui il corpo perde coordinate e la mente deve costruirne di nuove.

Autechre live è ignoto e indecifrabile. È lo sguardo spalancato dentro l’abisso, per vedere cosa succede quando smettiamo di cercare una direzione.

Disorientation, loss of all points of reference. Autechre live is the musical realization of ROBOT17's theme: getting lost in sound before reconstruction.

On October 10th at Estragon, Rob Brown and Sean Booth will bring a flow of digital sounds generated in real time, in a live performance that takes place in darkness, making it impossible to understand where the sounds are coming from, where they are going, what will happen next.

Since 1987, Autechre have pushed electronic music further and further, coming to work with procedural algorithms that control sound in real time. The result is an experience where the body loses its coordinates and the mind must build new ones.

Autechre live is unknown and indecipherable. It is staring wide-eyed into the abyss to see what happens when we stop looking for direction.

In anteprima italiana, l’8 ottobre Lawrence English presenta il live del suo album The Rest Is My Ghost a ROBOT17 - ?Syntax Error.

Artista, compositore e curatore australiano, Lawrence English lavora sul rapporto tra ascolto e percezione, usando il suono come materia sensoriale. Nelle sue composizioni, sorgenti acustiche ed elettroniche finiscono per confondersi: il suono perde la propria origine riconoscibile e lascia spazio all’ascoltatore per costruirne una sua interpretazione.

The Rest Is My Ghost, uscito questo agosto, prosegue questa ricerca: suoni naturali rimodellati e mastodontici drones costruiscono un’esperienza di stordente bellezza, dove il confine tra ciò che ascoltiamo e ciò che immaginiamo diventa sottile.

A ROBOT, English porta la sua ultima “azione”, come definisce i propri live: un’esperienza che invita a riconnettersi con il proprio modo di ascoltare, con il luogo e con il corpo.

For its Italian premiere, Lawrence English will present the live performance of his album The Rest Is My Ghost on October 8th at ROBOT17 - ?Syntax Error.

An Australian artist, composer, and curator, Lawrence English explores the relationship between listening and perception, using sound as a sensory material. In his compositions, acoustic and electronic sources blur together: sound loses its recognizable origin, leaving space for the listener to construct a new interpretation.

The Rest Is My Ghost, released this August, continues this research: natural sounds and massive drones build an experience of stunning beauty, where the line between what we hear and what we imagine grows thinner.

At ROBOT, English brings his latest "action," as he defines his lives: an experience that invites audiences to reconnect with their way of listening, with the place, and with the body.

Il 10 ottobre arriva a ROBOT17 la presentazione italiana di ‘Dja Dja’, il nuovo disco di Marina Herlop.

Cantante e pianista catalana, Marina Herlop ha alle spalle un processo di incessante mutazione. Da anni di formazione classica ai primi primi dischi per piano e voce, con limitati inserti elettronici, fino alla trasfigurazione digitale che trasforma la sua arte in un ibrido tra ambient, folk, e avanguardia vocale impossibile da rendere a parole.

Il live di ‘Dja Dja’, in uscita il 9 ottobre e presentato in premiere italiana a ROBOT17, è la più recente tappa di questa metamorfosi: la scopera dell'universo personale di un'artista sempre più oltre i confini della musica contemporanea, in cui umano e post-umano si fondono fino a diventare indistinguibili uno dall’altro.

On October 10th, ROBOT17 hosts the Italian premiere presentation of ‘Dja Dja’, the new album by Marina Herlop.

Catalan singer and pianist Marina Herlop has a history of continuous mutation. From years of classical training to her first albums for piano and voice, with limited electronic touches, up to a digital transfiguration that radically transforms her art into a hybrid of ambient, folk, and vocal avant-garde impossible to put into words.

The live performance of ‘Dja Dja’ -releasing on October 9th and presented as an Italian premiere at ROBOT17- is the latest stage of this metamorphosis: a discovery of the personal universe of an artist pushing ever further beyond the boundaries of contemporary music, where the human and post-human merge until they become indistinguishable from one another.

upsammy e Valentina Magaletti insieme, per la prima volta. Il 9 ottobre presentano Seismo live a DumBO per ROBOT17 - ?Syntax Error.

upsammy, producer e artista multidisciplinare olandese, costruisce ritmi irregolari a partire dall’osservazione degli ambienti che la circondano. Valentina Magaletti ha fatto della batteria un terreno di ricerca, mettendo in discussione il ruolo stesso della percussione.

Seismo nasce da una commissione del Rijksmuseum di Amsterdam, nei cui spazi le due artiste hanno registrato percussioni improvvisate usando l’ambiente come parte del processo. Da quelle registrazioni prende forma un disco in cui strumenti digitali e acustici si confondono, tra frammenti vocali, synth e ritmi in continua trasformazione. Armonia e dissonanza, casualità e controllo: due musiciste che si osservano da prospettive diverse e finiscono per creare una terza, imprevedibile via.

upsammy and Valentina Magaletti together for the first time. On October 9th, they present Seismo live at DumBO for ROBOT17 - ?Syntax Error.

upsammy, a Dutch producer and multidisciplinary artist, constructs irregular rhythms by observing her surrounding environments. Valentina Magaletti has turned the drum kit into a field of research, questioning the very role of percussion itself.

Seismo originated from a commission by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, in whosd spaces the two artists recorded improvised percussions, using the environment itself as part of the process. Those recordings formed an album where digital and acoustic instruments blur together amid vocal fragments, synths, and constantly evolving rhythms. Harmony and dissonance, chance and control: two musicians observing each other from different perspectives, ultimately creating an unpredictable third way.

A Palazzo Re Enzo un live cruciale per chi non ha mai avuto paura di guardarsi dentro.

Carla dal Forno è australiana, di italiano ha solo il nome. Da oltre un decennio si muove in bilico tra post-punk, dub ed elettronica, con brani che sembrano provenire da un altro pianeta e parlano invece di esperienze molto personali.

Il 25 settembre arriva per la prima volta a ROBOT con Confession, il suo quarto album e il primo pubblicato su Kallista, l’etichetta che ha fondato. Registrato in un ex ospedale di Castlemaine, Victoria, il disco segna un cambio di prospettiva: la distanza ipnotica degli esordi lascia spazio a una scrittura più diretta, dove l’astrazione cede il passo a una lingua più nuda del solito.

At Palazzo Re Enzo, a crucial live for anyone who has never been afraid to look inward.

Carla dal Forno is Australian, with only her name hinting at Italy. For over a decade, she has moved between post-punk, dub and electronic music, creating songs that seem to come from another planet, while actually speaking to deeply personal experiences.

On 25 September, she comes to ROBOT for the first time with Confession, her fourth album and the first released on Kallista, the label she founded. Recorded in a former hospital in Castlemaine, Victoria, the album marks a shift in perspective: the hypnotic distance of her early work gives way to more direct songwriting, where abstraction makes room for a more stripped-back language than usual.

Il 9 ottobre a Bologna Noémi Büchi live per ROBOT17 - ?Syntax Error

Compositrice e sound artist franco-svizzera, Noémi Büchi esplora il potenziale delle strutture musicali cross-genre, mettendo in dialogo fisicità ritmica e astrazione elettroacustica.

Il suo ultimo album, Exuvie, ruota attorno alla metamorfosi. Il titolo deriva dal latino exuviae, la “spoglia”: dal concreto del guscio lasciato andare al riverbero dei ricordi della precedente incarnazione, all'incertezza del futuro conseguente alla mutazione.

Undici tracce tra elettroacustica, techno trasfigurata, ambient lacerante, glaciali ventate di synth e improvvisi assalti ritmici: la colonna sonora di un film cyberpunk le cui immagini si generano spontaneamente dentro le nostre teste.

On October 9 in Bologna, Noémi Büchi live for ROBOT17 - ?Syntax Error

Franco-Swiss composer and sound artist Noémi Büchi explores the potential of cross-genre musical structures, creating a dialogue between rhythmic physicality and electroacoustic abstraction.

Her latest album, Exuvie, revolves around metamorphosis. The title derives from the Latin exuviae, meaning "cast-off skin": from the tangible shell left behind to the reverberation of memories from a previous incarnation, to the uncertainty of a future shaped by mutation.

Eleven tracks spanning electroacoustics, transfigured techno, searing ambient, icy synth breezes, and sudden rhythmic assaults: the soundtrack to a cyberpunk film whose imagery spontaneously unfolds inside our minds.

SyIl 9 ottobre Space Afrika arriva per la prima volta a ROBOT, con il nuovo live di Quiet Storm in prima assoluta italiana.

Il lavoro del duo mancuniano si muove attraversando contemporaneamente più fronti; è il frutto di continue ibridazioni tra ambient, parola, elettronica inequivocabilmente inglese a vari gradi di oscurità. Quiet Storm, il nuovo lavoro in uscita il 25 settembre, arriva cinque anni dopo Honest Labour, passando per A Grisaille Wedding, l'album del 2023 con Rainy Miller.

On 9 October, Space Afrika make their first appearance at ROBOT, with the new Quiet Storm live show receiving its Italian premiere.

The Manchester duo’s work moves across several fronts at once, the result of a constant hybridisation of ambient, spoken word and unmistakably British electronic music, with varying degrees of darkness. Quiet Storm, their new album, out on 25 September, arrives five years after Honest Labour, via A Grisaille Wedding, the 2023 album made with Rainy Miller.

Music and image have long been intertwined in their work, from scores for films presented at Cannes and Berlinale to installations at the Victoria & Albert Museum and Factory International, as well as their show on NTS Radio.

A ROBOT, Aho Ssan arriva con un nuovo live: il suono diventa materia e prende forma in tempo reale.

Niamké Désiré, parigino di origini ghanesi, firma una musica costruita con strumenti digitali disegnati da lui stesso. Negli anni ha mosso il proprio linguaggio tra ambient, hip hop, dubstep e sound design, in una serie di dischi al tempo stesso pulviscolari e solenni, inafferrabili e granitici.

The Sun Turned Black, il suo ultimo album, nasce da un ritorno in Ghana, la terra delle origini mai davvero conosciuta. La percussione sparisce, resta il dialogo tra synth e il violino di ASIA: dissonanza e quiete si alternano fino a lasciare allo spettatore la scelta tra eclissi e metamorfosi.

Dopo la speculazione filosofica di Simulacrum, ispirato a Baudrillard, Aho Ssan insegue ora la fisicità pura e a ROBOT porta un live in cui il suono prende forma tra le sue mani, in presa diretta.

A ROBOT, Aho Ssan arrives with a new live show where sound becomes matter, taking shape in real time.

Paris-based, Ghanaian-born Niamké Désiré creates music using digital instruments of his own design. Over the years, his language has moved between ambient, hip hop, dubstep and sound design, across a series of records that are at once granular and solemn, elusive and monolithic.

His latest album, The Sun Turned Black, was born from a return to Ghana, the land of his roots that he had never truly known. Percussion disappears, leaving a dialogue between synths and the violin of ASIA: dissonance and stillness alternate, inviting the listener to choose between eclipse and metamorphosis.

After the philosophical speculation of Simulacrum, inspired by Baudrillard, Aho Ssan now pursues pure physicality. At ROBOT, he brings a live show where sound takes shape in his hands, in real time.
