We are delighted to announce the opening of 𝐸𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚𝑠 𝑎𝑠 𝐿𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝐶𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑒𝑠 vol. II in the framework of the 28th edition of 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼 on 15 May 2026.

The exhibition features new works by 𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗮 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 and 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻.
Rooted in different Alpine territories, the two projects investigate ecological transformation through months of situated and interdisciplinary research. From high-altitude meadows altered by climate change to landscapes redefined by extractive practices, the exhibition reflects on the fragile interdependencies linking environments, technologies and living communities.

Shaped in dialogue with curator 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗼, the projects emerge from exchanges with researchers, scientists, practitioners and local communities.
We extend our gratitude to all those who have contributed to their development.

UNIDEE Programme 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨, 𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 continued with 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗩: 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙘𝙮—𝙂𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙑𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙇𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 led by dramaturg, scholar, and curator .
Building on ongoing explorations of language as a tool for resistance and political transformation, this module questioned regimes of aurality shaped by oralism and audism, moving beyond perception models centered solely on hearing. Through collective experiments, participants worked with and through scores as open, relational structures where language emerged as a vibratory, tactile, and affective force, flowing across bodies, gestures, and spaces, and opening up transcorporeal modes of listening.

Special thanks to guest contributors and .aria, whose presence expanded the research, deepening the inquiry into multiple ways of listening.

Many thanks to the mentor, guests, curators, and all the residents who continue to light up the days at Cittadellarte:

We are thrilled to announce the artists selected for 𝙀𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙖𝙨 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨, a project developed by UNIDEE Residency Programs of Fondazione Pistoletto Cittadellarte in collaboration with UniCredit Group. The initiative aims to support research and artistic production in response to contemporary ecological challenges, while actively contributing to the sustainable transformation of society.

𝗘𝗺𝗺𝗮 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 is a designer and researcher working across territorial studies, media theory, and environmental sensing. Through fieldwork, sound, and moving image, her practice investigates subsurface ecologies, mineral extractivism, and the politics of planetary representation.

Her project investigates Monte Corna as a site of renewed extractive interest, where cobalt, silver, and nickel concessions are reshaping land, ecologies, and imaginaries. Through fieldwork, local knowledge, and technological research it critically examines how “green transition” narratives reproduce extractive logics and redefine territories.

𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻 is a design researcher, director and producer working at the intersection of ecology, climate research and community resilience. Her collaborative, site-specific projects explore adaptive ecologies and human–landscape relationships through film, installation and long-term community projects, grounded in place-based research.

Her project explores how climate change is reshaping alpine species, ecosystem relationships, and cultural practices. Through collaboration with scientists and local communities of the alps, it examines climate futures, cultural adaptation, and ecosystem resilience. The project situates these questions within evolving ideas of wilderness and conservation in alpine environments.

𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗶́𝘁𝗲𝘇 invites participants in residency to embark on a collective practice of humans and more-than-humans in place. The residency is organized on a 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰, from no voice to full volume, and from the intentions of one artist to the weaving of an artist collective. Improvisation, somatic listening, and body engagement could be used as strategies of participation. The methodologies the mentor brings come from sign language immersion programs, activist choirs, popular assemblies, and irrigation communities.

For 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼, a collective of artists and activists, color is a tool that challenges the sensitive capacity of our bodies and becomes collective by identifying and sharing forms of knowledge that put dominant narratives under tension. During their workshop, 𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙧, participants in residency will share collectively, building a common working protocol where colors are a metaphor for a perceptible and plural form of knowledge—of sensitive and restless gestures—with the capacity to deconstruct social and hegemonic norms.

𝗘𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗮 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗷𝗼 𝗔𝘆𝗰𝗮, artist, poet, and the director of the National Museum of Ethnography and Folklore in La Paz, leads a residency from the perspective of Andean epistemologies. Through hands-on work with wool and collective verbal exchange, participants engage in verbal practices—oral narration, collective reading, speaking, and listening—function alongside textile work as modes of transmission, reflection, and collective meaning-making, in dialogue with Biella’s historical relationship to wool and textile production.
