Vic du Monte also known as Chris Cockrell grew up in the California desert and began his musical career at the end of the eighties when he formed Sons of Kyuss with school friends John Garcia, Josh Homme and Brant Bjork who went on to become the stoner rock band Kyuss.
After Kyuss he went on to forge his own identity as Vic du Monte fronting a classic desert generator band called Solarfeast.
He relocated to Chicago in the mid-nineties where he lived hard and fast writing a catalogue of rock n roll classics. These songs eventually became standards for his turn of the century act Vic du Monte’s Idiot Prayer, which he formed upon his return to California.
Idiot Prayer quickly began to take hold in Los Angeles building momentum with a series of well-attended live shows resulting in the Prey for the City LP released on Duna Records in 2005. With impending tours, an updated line up and signing with Cargo Records also came the name change from Idiot Prayer to Persona Non Grata. With the exception of a brief stint in 2007 fronting desert band Man Bites Dog, Vic has since been writing, recording and touring his Idiot Prayer and Persona Non Grata releases.
