Liquid Rituals

The pieces presented for Metamorphoses comprise a combination of vases, jugs and cups. The glazes blend Japanese recipes with both ancient and contemporary firing techniques; the clay bodies, all vitrified, yield a range of tones from light to the deepest earth tones. Ceramics have always reflected the reality around them, and it is in this sense that several pieces draw inspiration from the transformations of the Mediterranean’s underwater landscapes. The very same dynamics of globalisation that have transformed the Mediterranean are now shaping ceramic traditions, bringing together geographical trajectories that were once distant. Our ceramics therefore also tell the story of this intertwining: rather than ignoring the origins of the materials and the knowledge that inform them, our project chooses to make them visible, questioning what it means to expand a tradition within an increasingly interconnected world, one that is becoming ever more complex from a geopolitical perspective.

Elissa Lacoste

TINTED MIRRORS collection by Elissa Lacoste, is a series of sculptural wall mirrors that blend reflective surfaces with textured mineral forms. Composed of recycled colored mirrored glass and composite materials like acrylic plaster, vermiculite, mica, and pigments, each frame evokes a geological fragment or organic crust. The mirrors’ vibrant hues distort and color the observer’s reflection, altering perception and introducing chromatic dissonance between subject and image. Surfaces suggest coral, mineral deposits, or industrial residues - a hybrid materiality that is both natural and artificial.

Studio Nynke Koster

ELEMENTS OF TIME collection. In this series, Nynke Koster transforms architectural remains into tangible, interactive art, blending historical solidity with the fluidity of the present. These functional objects are casts of architectural details of monumental buildings from different centuries. By juxtaposing them, Koster creates a dialogue between different eras, condensing time into a single coherent line. The cold, rigid forms of the architecture are softened by her use of colored rubber, creating an intense interaction between material and form. Koster’s work preserves the past while also giving it a place in the contemporary world, inviting us to interact with it in new, unexpected ways.

Anna Jožová

Anna Jožová’s DYSPLASIO collection reflects her recent focus on extinction, developmental irregularities, and abrupt changes in species evolution. The artist turns her attention once again to processes that are often perceived as negative but that she considers natural manifestations of life’s variable nature, essential upheavals within ecosystems. The forms of her works are inspired by the host/parasite relationship, an inseparable part of natural evolution. Her illuminated works similarly explore the fragile interplay between two coexisting entities in which harmony is either critical to survival or signals potential collapse.

PARTUS. The work depicts an imaginary hermaphroditic organism capable of generating new life without the presence of a second individual. Its biomorphic base unites both male and female reproductive principles, while the emerging glass form evokes a developing embryonic membrane that gradually transforms throughout gestation, leading toward the moment of birth. Beneath its translucent shell, a glowing light represents the unborn offspring. Inspired by the artist’s personal experience of pregnancy and childbirth, the work reflects birth as a process of profound transformation, sacrifice, and the continuation of life. PARTUS explores metamorphosis as a continuous process of becoming.

LUSTRE CANDLESTICKS. “ I was inspired initially by the by the Hungarian Ceramic factory Zolsnay and their famous art nouveau work with Eosin glazes. With these candlesticks I wanted to create a feeling of earthiness to contrast with the shiny iridescent surface so added copper powders to fill in some of the holes created by the special clay body I use. The glazes have a high content of silver, copper and bismuth which are what give them their metallic effects. These pieces are saggar-fired in an electric kiln to get the metalised surface. The poetic quality of releasing control of the outcome to the kilnin this way, with the saggars, is something that creates unique.

The FLOCK STOOL comes from a creative mix of industrial material and natural form. By shaping styrofoam with a balloon, the piece moves beyond its hard, industrial origins to reveal soft, organic shapes. The spray-on coating and velvet finish make the surface feel even softer, inviting touch and changing how we see the material. The work holds a state of equilibrium—a steady balance where opposing forces like tension and release, or solid and empty, exist together without one taking over. This balance encourages reflection on the material’s two sides and the delicate harmony between control and freedom.
Imposed Vase. Series of one-off vessels made from bio-degradable granules. By imposing physical restrictions on a flexible mould, the character of each object comes to life during the production process. Handmade Industrials aims to create objects originated from the symbioses between contemporary materials, innovative processes and human intervention in order to reveal an autonomous identity.

• CRUMBLE DE VERRE •

Riccardo Cenedella

CRUMBLE DE VERRE is inspired by a glass processing technique prior to the invention of blown glass, already used in the Phoenician and Egyptian eras. This technique consists in placing glass powder inside moulds with a subsequent firing, creating a solid object through the fusion of the powder, this technique is called paté de verre. Through the collaboration with Barbini Specchi Veneziani, the project aims to reuse glass waste from Murano for the creation of a new mirror collection through experimental approaches inspired by the paté de verre technique.

The NOT WASTED collection transforms workshop offcuts into resources for creating zero-waste furniture. Through a circular approach, it reduces the use of virgin materials while questioning contemporary production methods. At the heart of the collection is Agglomera, a composite material made from sawdust, wood chips, and an organic binder of potato starch and water, protected with an industrial wax coating to withstand everyday use. The collection is based on the principle of tri-materiality, which visualizes the life cycle of a material through three stages of its transformation. By treating waste as a material in its own right, NOT WASTED reveals a new aesthetic and invites reflection on our relationship with resources, production, and the living world.
