Neural is a printed magazine established in 1993 dealing with new media art, electronic music and hacktivism. http://www.neural.it Neural ISSN: 2037-108X.

Neural is one of the most influential magazines about digital culture. It was established in 1993 and co-founded by Alessandro Ludovico. Its topics are based on media art, especially the networked and conceptual use of technologies in art, hacktivism, meant as digital media activism, and electronic music, investigating experiments in music and technology, including the scattered galaxy of sound ar

t. The magazine's mission is to collect ideas and also to be a node in a larger network of digital culture publishers and practitioners. In 1997 the first Neural.it website was uploaded, and since September 2000 it's daily updated. In 2002 Neural was one of the founding member of Mag.net (Magazine network of electronic cultural publishers), an international network of magazines dealing with new media art. Magnet's members are mutual supporting each other and their slogan is "Collaboration is Better than Competition". Neural.it was awarded with an Honorary Mention in Prix Ars Electronica 2004 (net.vision category). Neural has been part of the Documenta 12 Magazines project.
