I’m Burcu Duran Tomei – Istanbul-born, now based in Barga, Tuscany. I’m an interior designer by background, a creative soul by heart, and the founder of BDT Design. I work as a freelance creative—bringing together handmade techniques, color, and emotion in everythi
ng I do. From my home studio, I create hand-painted decor, seasonal pieces, and custom designs—especially around Easter, Christmas, and other meaningful moments. I also offer visual design for events and branding, and I’m currently exploring surface pattern design as part of my creative journey. Since childhood, I’ve been connected to the arts—drawing, singing, and expressing through music. I studied piano at Istanbul University State Conservatory and later pursued a degree in Interior Design, followed by a Master’s in Brand Management and Communication at IED Milano. I’m endlessly inspired by nature, memory, and emotion—and feel especially drawn to the rhythm of the sea and the quiet magic of the moon. While they aren’t the center of my creativity, they often reflect the way I work:
the sea, with its depth and fluidity, mirrors how I give emotional meaning to what I create. The moon brings in something more symbolic and spiritual—mysterious, intuitive, and quietly radiant. Their presence often echoes through the forms, palettes, and rhythms I bring to life—sometimes soft, sometimes bold, always intentional.
