Starfsemi Skaftfells er tileinkuð miðlun, viðgangi og framþróun myndlistar á Austurlandi. Þeim skyldum er framfylgt með sýningarhaldi, rekstri gestavinnustofa og fræðslustarfi. Miðstöðin hefur einnig umsjón með Geirahúsi, þar sem alþýðulistamaðurinn Ásgeir Jón Emilsson (1931-1999) bjó til dauðadags.
/ Skaftfell is a visual art center with the essential role of presenting, discoursing and facilit

ating the development of contemporary art. It is a meeting point for artists and locals and its activities are based upon exhibitions and events, alongside an international residency program and outreach program. Skaftfell is also the guardian of a minuscule house previously owned by a local naïve artist Ásgeir Jón Emilsson (1931-1999).
