Bedroom Community is an Icelandic record label/collective formed in 2006 by Valgeir Sigurðsson, with Nico Muhly and Ben Frost, later adding Sam Amidon, Daníel Bjarnason, Puzzle Muteson, Paul Corley, Nadia Sirota, James McVinnie and Emily Hall to the intimate roster. The collective spirit of Bedroom Community is its most precious resource. The roster is made up of creatively diverse artists who are

drawn to the murky spaces between genres, and who uniformly support one another’s forays into this murk. Whether on tour, within the confines of Greenhouse Studios on the outskirts of Reykjavík, or on any of the individual artist’s many ambitious projects that have to date seen them reach far and wide, into the most important corners of contemporary music, and working with many of today’s pioneering artists across fields ranging from art house cinema, to opera, theatre, fine art, Hollywood and beyond. A collaborative foundation is beneath everything Bedroom Community does.

Friends,

We’ve taken a short step back — working quietly, recalibrating — and as Bedroom Community approaches its twentieth year, we’ve been thinking carefully about our ambitions, our values, and what it means to release music in 2026.

Today we’re excited to share that we’ve entered a new global distribution and label-services partnership with . Their fiercely independent spirit, and their belief in artist-led communities, resonate deeply with our own beginnings: a small group of friends supporting each other’s work with care, curiosity and conviction.

Bedroom Community has since grown into a home for modern composition in all its forms — defined by collaboration, openness and forward motion. state51 understand this kind of world-building: putting relationships first in an environment that too often defaults to transaction and appropriation. We’re looking forward to releasing new work together, and to celebrating two decades of music that brought us here.

Our first release with state51 is DISPLACES, the debut solo album from Francesco Fabris (.fabris)
The first single, ‘Barricading the Icesheets,’ is out now.

The album is available to pre-order on Bandcamp — vinyl and CD — and releases in full on streaming platforms February 27.

Friends, today we’re happy to share new music from .fabris.

‘Barricading the Ice Sheets’ — out today — is the first single from DISPLACES, Francesco’s debut solo album and his first release on Bedroom Community.

Francesco, an Italian-born, Iceland-based composer, musician and interdisciplinary artist, has been part of the fabric of the label and of Greenhouse Studios for the last decade — with credits across the catalogue.
After his collaborative album Vakning with , DISPLACES feels like a return to the core of what we do. Welcoming him onto the roster is a natural, full-circle moment as we approach our twentieth anniversary.

Warmly,

- & Bedroom Community

Happy day! Brand new music fromManchester Collective and Hannah Peel on Bedroom Community

MC say: A fresh new album in the pipeline: NEON marks our fourth record release on bedroom community

The first single by Hannah Peel is out today! In her own words, the title track treats neon as “a symbol of the city at night ever-present through the smog, the rain, in film and still imagery”.

The footage from Graham Hector that features throughout the album visuals also celebrates the nocturnal city, documenting the euphoria of the ‘90s Manchester club scene on Super 8 film.

Lyra Pramuk - Delta (Bedroom Community)

+ Bleep exclusive
+ Limited to 200

Musician and producer Lyra Pramuk is a true enigma of modern music; a creator of immense sensitivity with an ability to convey deep intimacy through sound, and yet conversely, a rather slippery, chameleonic figure spanning multiple boundaries (classical and electronic music being the all-too-simple categorisation; the organic and the post-human being a fittingly nuanced description).

Her debut album Fountain, (one of Bleep's Top 10 Albums of 2020), was named for a translation of her Czech family name, treads the personal and the abstract with operatic vocalisations and completely unknowable forms of studio magick — its follow-up, Delta, conversely incorporates a plethora of input from guests and well-wishers to craft a remix album in essence and a wholly singular, collaborative ‘second LP’ in its own right.

Pramuk’s curatorial sensibility is boundless across the myriad approaches of Delta, her striking vocal performance contorted into jagged, pseudo-ambient swells by Valgeir Sigurðsson and Colin Self, who each triangulate her minimalist ethos and distort her unique timbre into an eerie, synthesised tone machine. While ‘Tendrils’ is fashioned into something like a transcendent club tune performed by a quartet of singing automatons, Eris Drew’s two entries flip the switch from the menacing wails of ‘Sugarcube Revelations’ to the techie digi-drum n dub of ‘Everything is Beautiful & Alive’.

Just like the title of that song, Delta is testimony to the gorgeousness and vivacity of Pramuk’s work, her raw materials evidently sparking with potentialities of eternal life long after they’ve been committed to wax.

A personal Note from Sam Slater:

Hey BedCom fans.

On May 24th - 26th, CTM Festival in Berlin (home of homes, and dare I say it, maybe the most influential musical environment I know) are premiering my new collaborative installation, Vandals. This work, made with German-born visual artist Theresa Baumgartner, is an idea seen through from beginning to end. Maybe I was punchdrunk from 2020, but the argument between collapse and recovery seem unavoidable. Working alongside dancer and choreographer Lukas Malkowski, an artist who works almost exclusively with falling, and surrounded by high-speed cameras, Vandals was made.

Vandals is formed from many of the same ideas in my album I do not wish to be known as a Vandal. One side focusses on collapse, the other on recovery. Each movement is named after a type of repair. Each collaboration that supports the record, the artwork and Vandals an opportunity to poke at the immense talent of the artists around me, whose responses to the central themes of the work have brought it to life and built something solid from the early fragments. These have been:

Hildur Guðnadóttir - Dorophone, Cello
Yair Elazar Glotman - Double Bass
Sam Dunscombe - Clarinet, Bass Clarinet
Hilary Jeffery - Brass
JFDR - Vocals
Emanuele Porcinai - Modified Bass
James Ginzburg - Mix Engineer, Additional Production
Lukas Malkowski - Choreography, Performance
Theresa Baumgartner - Visual Director
Sergey Skip - Artwork

I look forward to showing you the work soon. Until then, remain kind.
Sam.
