A decade of working in war-zones and witnessing the brutality of conflicts left me with a broken heart, a deep sadness lingered inside and a disappointment in the leadership of the world. So in 2012, as an aid worker I was used up and I decided to go back home, to the most peaceful country in the world, namely Iceland. Here the nature, the quiet, the cold and the warm healed me and I began to see
the beauty of the world again. I fell in love with Icelandic nature and the Icelandic sheep, particularity their wool. Driving around the country and seeing them wander freely both in mountains and plains deepened my respect and awe for these amazing creatures. I have always loved wool, my grandmother was an amazing knitter and created wonderful garments for the whole family. With that in mind I started to experiment, to find ways of using the wool in for me new ways, using the traditional Icelandic knitting in new ways. One day I found myself making my first stool and with that there was no return. I hope to expand on the product range, find new and innovative ways of sharing our nature and heritage. I hope you enjoy the stools of Eldmóð, the name is important for me, in Icelandic it means passion- fire of the heart. I lost my passion once and creating something beautiful helped me find it again.
